Jack, I'm with you all the way here. My observation tonight is if this spreads to other cities, and I think it will, because that's what DJT and Steven Miller want and it will put this economy in a strait jacket, first hit tourism and that has already slowed but it will come to a screeching halt because foreigners will be afraid to come here for a whole host of reasons and there goes hotel, airline, and theme parks, the revenue list is long. Their foolishness is driving this economy into a ditch and that will be their undoing. There are too many of us that won't put up with this shit and not enough of them.

Thanks for the tips and I don't exactly do everything you suggest, but I do practice keeping a cool head. I give myself time during the day to move on and think and do other things to fight the fatigue of war, because that's what this is.

Hi Jack, I have been following you since the bird app and have always enjoyed your take on things. This article had many important points that really spoke to me. I am already doing some of the things you suggested such as the breathing exercises. Now, I will not touch my phone in the first hour of the day too! So simple, yet so effective. Thank you. Thank you Jack💕

Great stuff!

I UNSUBSCRIBED from every email that I had, except you and the ones I wanted to keep, which helped. I didn't need to see the same shit over and over (like "WHAT did DT DO TODAY!!??")

Joyce Vance (courts); Heather Cox Richardson

info with historical slant

(good, but sometimes TMI); Kyiv Independent, news from Ukraine; Yaroslava, lives in Kyiv; Counter Offensive, war news from Ukraine; Timothy Snyder,

On Tyranny, On Freedom;

Robert Reich; I have found helpful.

Take Care,💕

I find music in my first hour to be a good mental prep for the day. Singing out loud to favorite songs starts the day with a hit of endorphins and dopamine instead of panic and stress. My body check includes noticing whether my shoulders are up around my ears, my jaw is clenched, and whether I’m holding my breath - all remnants of a past SA that reappear whenever I’m feeling stressed. I believe breathing in for 4 breaths and out for 8 breaths has saved my sanity on more than one occasion.

Holy shit Jack, this is EXACTLY what I needed to hear in this moment. I've spent the past few months getting involved locally and building a micro-network. I'm ticking off the items on your list as we speak. My head is back in the game but jfc there are booby traps and walls to scale everywhere every fucking day. I need you now more than ever and I have to say, you have delivered. Thank you, I knew you wouldn't let us down. I look forward to standing with you again tomorrow.

Thank you as usual Jack. I always have takeaways since following you back on X. Can you give more examples on practicing Cognitive overload? I am with you- I believe martial law is coming. I watched clips from the dreaded Fox News and all the cult sees is violence and dissonance from the left. They go on about their day like nothing is happening. I feel like we’re living in a parallel world sometimes. I continue to take in what you teach. I’m outspoken on social media so the part about VPN, Signal etc. I haven’t done anything a change at this point.

Jack, all of what you said here reminds me of the French Résistance and the French population during the Nazi occupation (1940-44). Of course there was a sense of lassitude, distrust, forced acceptance, even giving up. But underneath all that an invisible force ran deep, a strength that comprised most of everything you mentioned and also the idea of never giving up, of bouncing back up, and I have to say it, hope. Today’s world forgot how to prepare for duress and hardship. It’s as you say, an “it can’t happen here” mentality. It can happen and is happening.

Thank you for your valuable advice…We can do it. The reality is, as it was during the terrible years of occupation, if we are to live as free citizens, we don’t have much of a choice. It’s up to all of us to put aside our fear of the unknown, to step out of our comfort zones and move forward.

I should be more accurate to be helpful:

Joyce Vance (Civil Discourse), Heather Cox Richardson (Letters from an American), Kyiv Independent (news from Ukraine), The Counter Offensive (news from Ukrainian war),Yaroslava, lives in Kyiv (writes every Sunday), Timothy Snyder: Thinking about... (books, On Tyranny, On Freedom,)

Robert Reich posts most every day.

and: The Fucking News

(An interesting perspective on the news).

NK, if I can make a suggestion try Jeff Tiedrich or at least give him a try. He writes a humorous column almost every day and culminates on Saturday, with "This Week in Stupid".

We all need some humor, and Jeff will give you plenty, and a lot of things to scratch your head about. Clowns can be funny and the clowns he references are stupid and their stupidity is funny in the right context and Jeff delivers that.

Jack if you read this, sorry I'm pushing another writer here, but your thoughtful ideas and the others here on NK's list are just as admirable with their content, I follow them all and several others on a regular basis. My thanks to everyone here, commenters too.

Couldn't agree more, Bill. I like my balanced subscriptions of Jack's mental warrior preparations, Joyce's justice system explanations, Snyder's patterns of fascism breakdowns, and Tiedrich's side-splitting mocking of this absolutely stupidest timeline. I have one more who conveys my anger well, D. Earl Stephens, a former editor of the military publication Stars and Stripes.

Substack is awesome in being able to pick the people who round out info I'm looking for to feel informed and trust. I've surrounded myself with my own group of experts in their fields to help me make sense of it all and give me points I wouldn't even know to consider on my own.
