Thanks for this. I worked the polls for the first time during our primary. It was good to feel part of the process, so I'd add that to your list of things to do/consider: work the polls, volunteer for a candidate outside the polling place. Be part of the experience. #holdingfast

Hey Jack -

Question - how do you feel when you see the news and the political analyst says how great it’s looking for Dems? I cringe every time - I’m concerned that people “on the fence” are going to hear that and say “no need for me to vote - it’s in the bag” and we don’t get the results we desperately need.

Chris K..yeah. At some point, it starts working against us...in that...there becomes a risk of people thinking, "Well, I can sit this one out. Sounds like enough OTHER people will be voting!"

This great! Clear and concise, the action items clear and concise as well. Thank you, Jack.

I also love that the work on the computer program that was supposed to be part of the called off USPS cluster (voter list matching to ballots) has stopped…. The guy over that sounds as if he was VERY less than enthusiastic about it. Win!

Thanks, Deb.

It's simple. We do what we can. Every day. Then, vote.

Keep rockin'!

This was exactly what people need to hear. They need to plan now so that they will have "their ducks in a row". It is simple with the way you can check things either by phone or computer.

Jack's right that Callais is a wound, not a kill shot. But he's underselling the actual dynamic here, so let me say the quiet part.

Trump doesn't have a strategy left. He has a nervous system, and it's firing. Every week between now and November 3rd, watch him get louder, sloppier, more feral — the postal service stunt, the mail-ballot tantrum the Supreme Court itself slapped down, the mid-decade gerrymander panic-button in four states at once. That's not confidence. That's a man rearranging furniture in a burning house because standing still means admitting the fire's real.

And here's the part the panic-merchants keep missing: this isn't a hunch, it's a pattern with a receipt. August 2022, six weeks after Dobbs. Kansas — a state Trump carried by 15 points — put abortion rights on the ballot. Republicans expected a squeaker. They got a 59-41 wipeout, on turnout nearly two-and-a-half times the last midterm primary. That's not persuasion. That's overreach hitting people hard enough that they showed up in numbers nobody modeled for. The rule wasn't argued into existence, it was voted into existence, in a red state, in a primary nobody was supposed to care about.

Jack's got the receipts for this cycle too — 117 specials, D+67, a Senate map that's ugly but not fatal. What he's too polite to say bluntly is the mechanism: Trump's escalation and the electorate's hardening aren't two separate storylines. Kansas already showed you the shape of it. The higher he jacks up the crazy, the more he's manufacturing the very turnout he can't afford.

That's the trade this White House keeps making without noticing it's a trade at all. Keep flailing, Donald. You're not scaring anyone into staying home. You're building their reason to show up.

I really like this pieces and I like even more that you’re doing it weekly. I received my ballot but I can’t get it notarized and in the mail until Monday due to prior commitments tomorrow. That’s OK. Just gives me more time to sip my coffee and hum to myself (tra-la) while I color in the little boxes neatly.

I’m. So. EXCITED!!!! Restacking and sharing with glee. GLEE, I tell you!

Great answers, great plan, we have the power to know are status as voters, and the power to get out and vote! Let's make sure we vote in numbers that leave no doubt that a blue wave swept over this country!
