Already called their offices. Despicable, deplorable, downright disgusting and if those aren't bad enough, ILLEGAL, IMMORAL, and IMPOSSIBLY STUPID.

Perfect, Roberta!

Thank YOU.

“A government that does this once has learned it can do it again.” Except it’s already done it. Several times. In the streets of Minnesota. And Trump’s thugs showed no mercy when they shot the victim in the face.

Jack Hopkins's avatar

Yes, Robert...and they will KEEP right on doing it.

We get OUR mission accomplished on November 3rd...or it gets even worse.

What the actual FUCK?? Seriously they’re going to live stream it?? WTF has happened to our country with Hatesgeth and all the lemmings thinking this is a good idea?? Oh the ratings??!!?!! DUMBt lives for ratings.. this is absolutely not my father’s America any longer.. this is heinous horrifying and completely immoral.. oh yeah.. it’s DUMBt and his fucking lemmings..

Jack Hopkins's avatar

Exactly, Morgan.

This IS the red line. If this nation doesn't do what it needs to do on November 3rd, I am confident... it never will.

JFC Jack.. this is a fucking nightmare and red line that we should never ever cross.. what the actual fuck

This is absolutely revolting! This must be stopped. How low can this country go before it will be next to impossible to recover from? I’m horrified!

Jack Hopkins's avatar

I'm overjoyed that it has that kind of impact on you, Linn. Because...without enough Americans experiencing EXACTLY those kinds of feelings and emotions, there's little hope for democracy to survive.

So...thank you for saying that!

This is a circus. Maybe next will come the lions in an arena.

Jack Hopkins's avatar

And, VBaklini...on a scale of 1-10, how realistic is that scenario in the future if we don't get our mission accomplished on November 3rd...I'd put it at a solid 4 or 5. Seriously.

This is beyond pale. Children could end up forever traumatized. Drumpf needs to take his chicken ass there and watch it live! He does not have the balls I bet.

Jack Hopkins's avatar

Teri...it absolutely IS.

THIS...is the red line. If people refuse to treat it as such on November 3rd...then, as a country...we have asked for exactly what we get. I believe that.

Jack, thank you so much for the suggestion of finding out who in Congress is for and who is against the broadcasting of the execution.

I am adamantly against the broadcasting of it as well as the death sentence itself. The viewing is not acceptable for me, and it certainly is not acceptable for the eyes of children.

Other shootings have also been televised, particularly in the 1960s, not that they were acceptable for the eyes and ears of children.

There is one huge difference though, and that is that this upcoming carrying out of a death penalty, is not unexpected by the majority of the would be viewers. (I hope there will be no viewers, by their own choice.) The execution is planned. Killing is killing in still another sense, and there are great concerns connected to the televising of this particular instance. This killing is not a matter of self defense. I fully understand that some people are in circumstances beyond their immediate control, such as in the service, and that they have no choice. This is not such a situation.

We teach the commandment, “Thou shalt not kill.” To televise this execution will open much discussion in homes and in families. Many people do not believe in the death penalty. How are they to defend their beliefs when the live airing of this execution will no doubt be replayed? How are parents and educators to handle the acting out of such shootings by children? How can the minds of observers of any age ever be healed? I would rather that no execution ever take place. I feel that no execution is to be put in front of the public in the ways this one is planned to be and no doubt will be replayed. It is wrong. We need no person of any age ever accepting such behavior and the broadcasting of it. Our values and our children’s mental well-being, the prevention of desensitization, as well as the respect for human beings, even criminal ones, must come above all.

Thank you so much for addressing this tragic situation.

Jack Hopkins's avatar

Judy Robinson...thank you for this.

You raised something I left out...and it’s the most important part: the REPLAY.

I wrote about the one night in December.

You’re right that it won’t be ONE night. It’ll be a CLIP.

It’ll be in a feed between a cooking video and a car ad...and...some nine-year-old will see it before any adult has decided whether he SHOULD. That’s the difference between 1936 ...and NOW.

Owensboro ended when the crowd went home. This one NEVER ends. EVER. Once on the internet...it will live for all of eternity. That's a fact.

You're also right about why it’s WORSE than the footage we grew up with. Those were tragedies caught by a camera. This is a camera placed on PURPOSE...by the GOVERNMENT....with a date on the CALENDAR.

You don’t EVER have to defend your beliefs to ANYONE. BUT...if you want stuff to throw... for the dinner table...here it is in ONE LINE: a country that teaches “thou shalt not kill” and then puts a killing on a stream...is teaching the second lesson....louder than the FIRST.

Make the calls. Ask the question. And, Judy...thank YOU for being the kind of reader who makes me think harder!

How many hours of coverage does this public execution create. Every hour they coverts is a hour they don't cover the Epstein case. The story is worth calling bul**hit for about an hour, then get to Trump's Kryptonite. That will clean house, big time which is what the Heritage Foundation and their puppet are most afraid of.

Jack Hopkins's avatar

Steven...oh yes. In fact, this will likely be one of the greatest national distractions he's drummed up yet.

Why? Because the story IS that monolithic, that refusing to cover it would be one of the most undemocratic decisions anyone could ever make.

And, at the end of the day, I thoroughly believe the strategy involved comes in a close second, only for Trump's bloodlust to claim responsibility for broadcasting the execution of a man on live stream. If I were going to guess, I would guess that there may even be some sexual gratification for him in this.

Voice mails left for all (2 senators, 1 rep)…. We’ll see if anyone calls back. Not holding my breath although I suspect both Dem senators will likely return my call. The R rep…. not so much.

Agreed, Deb...on all of your chosen words.

Most of all...thank YOU...for being an ACTION TAKER!

I’m beyond sufficient language here.

The level of depravity that it would take for someone to even CONSIDER something like this is more than I can fathom. It’s wrong. It is sick. It is torture on an absurd scale. 💔

I want my grandmothers.
