We Went to War Over Public Executions. Now We’re Scheduling One.
My Thoughts on Hegseth’s Impotency Signaling Public Execution Circus
The Jack Hopkins Now Newsletter Special Report.
Let’s not waste words. I’m keeping this one very short.
On December 3, at Fort Hood, Texas, the United States government will line a man up in front of a firing squad of American soldiers and shoot him.
Then it will put the video on the internet.
That’s not a rumor. That’s the Pentagon. Pete Hegseth said it should be “public.” His own department clarified: livestreamed. Asked whether the condemned man had any last requests, the Secretary of Defense said, “Don’t care.”
Now, the man is Nidal Hasan. He murdered 13 people in 2009. Nobody is crying for him. That’s the trick they’re counting on. They picked the one defendant nobody will defend…so that nobody will notice what’s actually being built.
So notice.
The last public execution in this country was 1936. Owensboro, Kentucky. Twenty thousand people showed up. Vendors sold food. Afterward…the country looked at itself in the mirror and said: never again. Every state banned it. For ninety years…that was settled.
It took one man with a podcast microphone and a cabinet title to unsettle it in an afternoon.
Here’s what a government is telling you when it broadcasts a death.
It’s telling you it owns the moment. That the state’s power to kill is not a grim duty carried out behind a wall, but content. Something to be shared…clipped…watched on a phone in line at Walgreens.
The UN human rights office called it what it is: tantamount to a public execution… and a breach of the prohibition on torture. Not torture of the man. Torture as a public act. A government that does this once has learned it can do it again.
And ask yourself who they’ll pick next time.
One more thing. In January…this same president…stood in front of cameras and warned Iran…that public executions of protesters would mean “a very bad day for them.” Nine months later…his Pentagon is scheduling its own.
So which is it? Is a public execution the mark of a regime we go to war against…or…a Thursday announcement from the War Department?
Can’t be both.
What you do about it is simple. Call your representative and your senator. Ask one question: Do you support the livestreaming of an execution by the U.S. military, yes or no?
Write down the answer. Post it. The election is November 3. The stream is December 3. You’ve got exactly one month to make every person who holds office say…out loud… which side of 1936 they’re standing on.
Don’t watch it. Don’t share it. Don’t let it become normal.
Because that’s the whole point of it. And…it only works if you look.

Already called their offices. Despicable, deplorable, downright disgusting and if those aren't bad enough, ILLEGAL, IMMORAL, and IMPOSSIBLY STUPID.
“A government that does this once has learned it can do it again.” Except it’s already done it. Several times. In the streets of Minnesota. And Trump’s thugs showed no mercy when they shot the victim in the face.
