JFC .. it’s like tennis back and forth back and forth 😵‍💫 I’d rather watch grass grow.. the corruption the play for pay.. all the BS in this administration.. conflicts of interest right left and center.. and that Orange Asshole wants a 3 rd fucking term.. oh fuck that bullshit!!

Jack Hopkins's avatar

Morgan...yep...the tennis match is the point...and...I say that with sympathy for the vertigo.

Thursday they're stonewalled...Monday...they're advancing him.

Back and forth...until you can't tell whether anything moved. It's exhausting by DESIGN... and exhausted people STOP watching.

So...watch ONE thing instead of the volley: the fund is dead...the audit protection lives.

That's the whole story...and it does NOT require you to track a single additional serve.

As for the third term...that one's a wall, not a negotiation. Twenty-second Amendment... and amending it needs two-thirds of both chambers PLUS thirty-eight states.

Nobody is ANYWHERE near that. Talking about it costs nothing and rattles people for free...which is exactly why it gets said by this dipshit and his band of fools. Don't spend your energy there.

Save it for Wednesday. We're going to talk about WHERE to point it!

I’m looking forward to that.

I have to believe there is something drumpf has on those 3. We will probably never know. I was reading somewhere the way this was put in the judge’s order that both are included in their denial to approve the slush money for the j6ers and the audit. I may be wrong but I will wait to see how this plays out in court. This is not something to get your knickers in a twist over…

I wrote to my Senators (North Dakota) as well as Tillis and Cornyn that no decent human being would vote for Todd Blanche and I know that will not resonate with these (not sure of an appropriate word to describe less than human) people. I had to make my feelings known regarding the inappropriate nomination of Todd Blanche.

Jack Hopkins's avatar

Deborah...you wrote to TWO senators...who do NOT represent you...knowing the odds... and you did it ANYWAY! Hot damn. I LOVE that.

That's not futility...that's the part that counts as ACTION...rather than motion. It COST you something...it went to a SPECIFIC target...and... it's on the RECORD.

What you did to Cornyn and Tillis is WAY more damaging than any insult...you named a standard...and made them FAIL it...in writing.

North Dakota is a hard room...and you wrote ANYWAY.

Keep the receipts. Wednesday...we talk about where to aim next!

Dammit!!!! Forgive me for the next rant….. what-in-dogshit-hell-is-WRONG-with-these-ppl!??!

Did they get threatened by the enforcer, paid off, just what?? SO frustrating. I really don’t have a lot of words other than some super colorful swearing so will try to walk it off….. disgusting capitulation. Damn mofo’s.

Jack Hopkins's avatar

Deb...no need to forgive you. Let it OUT. Anyone who isn't at least a little of that today ...isn't paying attention.

To your actual question... the threat part isn't speculation.

Trump posted it Saturday: confirm Blanche or he keeps him as acting AG and pushes the payout fund anyway. Both men got told...publicly...that blocking the nomination would NOT stop the thing they were trying to stop.

Then a document arrived Sunday night...giving them something to point at...and Monday morning they took it.

Which is the part that stings. It wasn't a bribe. It was an EXIT. Somebody handed them a way to call it a "WIN"...and they walked through it.

Walking it off is the right call. That's NOT giving up...that's keeping your powder dry...and there's a real difference between rage that burns out by Thursday...and anger you can still use next month. Yours sounds like the SECOND kind.

Wednesday...we point it somewhere!

They have nothing to lose? LOL. Maybe Trump can sic the IRS on them. Or perhaps, send the Brownshirts to their childrens' houses.

Jack Hopkins's avatar

Bruce...I'm sure something along those lines was on their mind. I'd bet on it.

Judy Robinson's avatar

Jack, you are so right that they had nothing to lose. They had a positive glimpse to be gained as they would leave their positions, certainly, and the opportunity to help our country. It seems to be an absolutely despicable decision made by each of the two men, based on the facts that it is a sell out of their individual ethical codes, if they each had one, which had seemed to emerge briefly for this particular vote at least, and that no American or family with a sufficiently tax worthy or applicable income should be totally tax exempt forevermore, including listed as free of audit when huge amounts of money are involved. Is such a decision in keeping with the wishes of their individual constituents? I seriously doubt that it is if those voters understand what it means. Still, I am glad that that pay-off fund is gone, if it is gone for good and not simply transferred somewhere and given a different name.

I had not followed the history of voting for each of these two men, but their individual changes of decision on this vote will not be forgotten. How lacking of character that they were bullied and fell for it, fell in their obligations to our country, and fell in light of the opportunity they had to be admired for making a worthy decision by placing a negative vote in this important instance. This triple fall is not good at all, and possible or probable repercussions for our country will not be good either. They each will have to watch what plays out because of their independently made choices.

Jack Hopkins's avatar

Judy Robinson...your last instinct is the one to KEEP:

If it's gone for good...and not simply transferred somewhere...and given a different name. That's the right suspicion.

The order rescinding the fund is real...and it makes revival harder...BUT... an order that was issued...can be issued AGAIN...and Trump spent Saturday saying he'd push for the thing legislatively...REGARDLESS.

Watch for the SAME money...wearing a NEW name. That's the follow-up.

On the audit protection: you've named the part that survived the deal.

The "clarification" says the settlement covers PAST tax issues...and the NAMED parties in the suit. That isn't a repeal. Whether it holds...is now a matter for the courts...NOT the Senate...which is precisely what the Senate handed AWAY this week.

Your point about constituents deserves more weight than it'll get. NEITHER man faces those voters again. That's the whole shitty joke of it: the freedom that should have made a no...costless...is the SAME freedom that made a yes...CONSEQUENCE-free.

You're right, Judy... that it won't be forgotten. Write it down anyway. Memory fades...files don't.

Thank you, Jack, for each wise point of discussion. In spite of having no major political consequence to face, each man will have to live somewhere, be it around former constituents he let down, or among another community, preceded by his reputation as a traitor. No man is an island, and each man has made his bed. Possibly neither man will be totally ostracized, but it seems that a difference in feeling certainly would be forefront on neighboring minds.

For those not blessed with living in Texas, John Cornyn was an elected district court judge, then an elected Associate Justice of the Texas Supreme Court who resigned to run and win a US Senate seat decades ago. No way would he ever have lost a race there with Ted Cruz in the arena until Pax cast his shadow over all of us. The Eminence Grise left equaling the value of a counterfeit coin. His vaunted moral superiority was hollow as a dead log.

So much for giving the criminal what he wants because they’re afraid of being primaried. They’re out of excuses. These are bad people colluding with a criminal for personal gain.

Tillis is one of my Senators. I got this news delivered directly to my inbox via the New York Times. It was one of the first pieces of news I read today and it hit me hard… seriously. I dropped my phone and sat down trying to breathe… every breathing trick I’ve learned over more than 30 years with severe panic disorder. Finally breathing… medication was involved. I just felt sick and still do.

I’m so incredibly angry and disappointed in both of them but with Tillis it feels more personal. It’ll pass because I always knew that there was a possibility that something like this could happen but I hoped it wouldn’t. Why would it I told myself… right?

Could they… or their families have been threatened? I guess I’m looking for an excuse or a better explanation. There probably isn’t one.

Nothing more to say. Thank you for the article, Jack.

PS. Might have just got a preview of what I’ll be going through if the midterms go badly for us. I think I probably already knew.

It can be reversed just like every other piece of garbage this administration has done. Cornyn and Tillis may not regret this now, but the American Nuremberg’s are coming.

Ah Jack, it was a given they would fold. Having no spines, folding is to be expected.

I hate to say I told you so, Jack, but I'll never trust a Republican to vote on the Right Side of Anything anymore. This whole regime is corrupt and I believe the American People are starting to realize it. Good article this evening ✨ Thank you for sharing your insight and will reStack ASAP 💯👍🇺🇸
