Another eye opener. Time to sign up to canvas for my candidate running against our House Trumpstein lackey! Thanks Jack!

Floyd...isn't it, though?! There is just so much going on...that it is IMPOSSIBLE for anyone to keep track of everything.

Yes...canvassing is SO important right now. Thank YOU, Floyd!

I need to figure out where to donate. I get almost 200 hundred text messages for donations and nearly 600 emails.. that’s daily. I don’t think any of them meet this need. Who do I call? How do I figure out what organization to donate to? I live in a small mountain town in Western North Carolina and this state is so important.

With my medical conditions, canvassing is probably more than I can handle but I need to help.

I welcome suggestions from anyone who knows how I can do the most good.

Thank you, Jack. I would’ve missed this.

Susan...ignore all 800.

Those are ads; the groups doing real work can't afford your attention.

Down Home NC (downhomenc.org) organizes your mountains. And...your BEST asset isn't your feet...it's being KNOWN in a small town. Five neighbors you remind personally ...beat 100 cold doors.

#Holdfast, Susan!

Hey, Susan! I’d call my county Democratic group (you can usually check with your county election office for names and maybe phone numbers if you can’t find them.)

Maybe they can tell you the best way to help or give you a place to start.

I live in a little gated community in the middle of nowhere and some of these folks are disabled and can’t drive. Our polling place is only a couple of miles away. I’m going to put a notice on our community POA Facebook page and offer rides. I can shuttle if need be. If I don’t get a response (and even if I do) I can call them. I know they’re not all on Facebook.

Hi Susan,

Jack mentioned the Movement Voter Project…. They direct the donated funds to crucial races in crucial areas. They look really good, check them out! They have three different ways to donate (if that is your thing). I was not aware of them until now.

Do you think we will ever have a day of just good news? #holdingfast

Jack Hopkins's avatar

I don't, Roberta.

But...I think it is SO important...every day...to make it a point to FIND at least one GOOD news story...and enjoy reading it...to the fullest extent possible.

Even on the WORST news day, there's a good news story about SOMETHING...somewhere...and THOSE are the days...we need one of them the most!

Thank you, thank you. I knew about the newsroom ban and that lawyers are on it. I had NOT heard about the well running dry funding piece….

I’ve been looking for a way to donate $$ without getting hounded and harassed with ‘can you give us more?’ emails. (I bought a Harris item as part of a fundraising effort and finally got 100% fed up with the continuous asks AFTER. THE. ELECTION - they never did disclose how all the $$ were spent). Most of the candidate supplied links for donations go through Act Blue. I also was not aware of the Voter Movement Project.

Great info, Jack! Thank you and have a great weekend!!

You are right!! It is the quiet story that needs the most attention. Litigation was ready to go before the first press pass was confiscated. Volunteer, donate money locally, reach out to 5-10 people you know and have it fan out. It seems small but like a pebble in a lake the ripples spread. #holdfast
