It's time to show Musk and the other corrupt oligarchs that there is a limit to what they can buy with their money. VOTE THEIR PREFERRED CANDIDATES OUT! And then push hard for legal changes that will make it impossible for any one individual to ever accumulate so much wealth again!

dlnevins...couldn’t agree more on step one!

Three weeks. That’s the window. EVERY candidate Musk bankrolled has his name on the receipt...and voters can read.

On step two, I’d put the first fight on disclosure...and super PAC limits...rather than wealth caps. It’s winnable SOONER...and it hits the problem at the point of purchase:

It isn’t that he HAS the money...it’s that he can spend it on an ELECTION... without a ceiling or a name attached. Close that door FIRST... and the rest gets a lot easier to argue.

Thanks for being here, dlnevins... and for paying for it. That’s how this stays independent ...of the people we’re writing ABOUT!

I am fine with super PAC limits because (as you say) that battle is the easiest to win quickly, but ultimately I think we do need some way to cap total wealth. A person can't write multiple $300 million dollar checks if he doesn't HAVE billions of dollars to spend. And the wealthy will always find a way (legal or otherwise) to influence elections; the best check on that is to insure they don't have the ability to do that because they simply don't have the funds available to do that.

Oligarch level wealth is simply incompatible with the existence of democracy long-term. We're always going to have wealth inequality, but at currently levels it's simply corrosive. We need another Teddy Roosevelt ASAP!

But that's for later. Now we need to focus on throwing Trump's noxious supporters out of every office we can! I checked today, and my ballot has been received and accepted, so now I can concentrate on other ways of helping rid our republic of the Trump scum.

Thank you Jack! I have always done small donations to as many campaigns as possible researching the best bang for my limited funds. I refuse to let garbage billionaires take Democracy away!! I will also continue to hammer at my do-nothing Senators & Representative with every god-awful issue this regime has done. I know that it doesn't resonate in western North Dakota to be decent representatives however it gives me great joy to have at them continually. Pity that I can't call them the appropriate names they deserve but I certainly can while I am writing to them. #HOLDFAST

Deborah...you’re doing EXACTLY the thing the $366 million is designed to BEAT...and you’re doing it in western North Dakota, which is the hardest VERSION of it. That’s NOT a small thing.

Small checks...spread across the RIGHT races...is smarter than most BIG donors are. And ...the letters matter a hell of a LOT more than you think.

Staff count them...and a steady voice from a DEEP-RED district is the one they CAN'T dismiss...as "noise" from the coasts.

Keep hammering. Name-call in the drafts...send the clean version...and know that the clean version lands HARDER anyway.

#HOLDFAST...right back at you.

Can we simply strip Musk of his citizenship and send him back to his home country….? He and t are cut from very similar if not the same cloth…. We really don’t need more of them.

We actually might be able to do that, if the story I've heard about his overstaying on a student visa is true. It might be preferable, though to keep him here, provided he's doing so inside a prison cell. Deported but still wealthy means he can keep going on creating trouble.

Good point. I like how you think!

Another great post, Jack. I have not heard or read any predictions on voter turnout, have you?
