Good to know advice here, Jack. I can relate to how time flies, when I was unable to walk for 6 years. Since my Surgery thought, I appreciate every step, task or household chore I do now, because I'm pain free and have freedom of movement. Thank you, for your caring article this evening, and will reStack ASAP 🙏
I always thought that the reason time flew by as I got older, was because, unlike when I was a child, I had nothing really exciting to look forward to, like birthdays, Christmases etc. where time never moved fast enough.
You just made me re evaluate my time left on this earth.
Many thanks Jack. I’m going to put your advice to good use.
I hope to spend at least 400 of my units asleep, maybe more. So I really only have 1000 waking units. But my nightly inventory is a lot more encouraging when examined this way. Thanks!👹
Thank you for the smiles this 1440 concept brings, Jack!
Sometimes I think time flies because I have been busy enjoying the moments or involved in a project, lost in a concept, mentally playing with a design, or just enjoying the time to think or to enjoy the beauty of nature, or to reflect over a cup of tea. It is surprising that the sun goes down so fast, or that leaves are falling already. Still, there is much to enjoy, and counting blessings of the day is a pleasure.
Tonight, as I count the blessings, or particular experiences, I’ll break it down into particular moments of experiences. I believe we do that anyway as particular parts of the experiences come to mind, but it will be fascinating to see how my perspective might change as I pick the moments.
The song coming to mind tonight as it relates to my own counting of the minutes is “It Only Takes a Moment”. I forget the rest of the song, but I think it is from “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying”.
Over all, it does seem that we tend to think in great detail. At least my life is full of lots of details. Maybe that is why we still have vivid memories even from some experiences in babyhood after having lived many decades. Still, it is hard to understand when individuals who were in certain places at the same time cannot share some of the recollections.
I think it is easier to be lost in the details than to consider a larger unit of time. In enjoying the details, it is possible that time gets away from us, but life is fun along the way. It also is fun to think of this 1440 concept.
What an awesome concept! I have felt like time was draining away recently. This will put focus to my efforts. Thank you Jack! So glad I found this group. Keep the fight!
It concerns me to see people so impatient. Drivers cutting people off only to end up at the traffic light one car ahead. People getting angry at computers because it is taking a few seconds to complete its task. Maybe 1440 minutes would help them feel less time stressed. I’m going to try to get into changing to your method. Wish me luck 🍀
Time passing measured by the minute. Reflecting minute by minute expands the concept of living. Moment by moment enriches perception of living. Good Job Jack.
I spent many many minutes of my life producing a TV newscast in which I measured time by the second. After commercials I had 22 minutes to tell everything my viewers needed to know. When I was a reporter zi would spend 7 hours creating one minute and 15 seconds of content. It is amazing how much we can share in such little time. It forever changed my experience of time.
Hi Jack, you're giving away my secret for living your best life. Awareness of seconds leads to mindful living. I kept thinking after reading your post "What he said." A sign over my desk reads "There is joy waiting in every moment and the moment is now."

Well, now, I can start that RIGHT NOW! 😌
And I’m going to feel the dreams that I want before I go to sleep. I’ll ask for them, intentionally draw them.
This is going to be fun.
Thanks, Jack!
Just wow…a new perspective that came at just the right time. You are so wise…lessons from your life story. Thanks for helping the rest of us.
I appreciated the model - thank you for sharing!

Your column today reminds me of the words of Erasmus: the key to happiness is wanting to be who you are. (Forgive if I’ve misquoted slightly)
