I like your analogy here,I'm going to speculating that because he always says what he's going to do, before he actually does something, like for example, his Jan. 6th Insurrection on the Capitol, and suffered No Conciquences. He's Emboldened now,and with basically No Restraint's , in which case, I say "Yes" absolutely he will invoke the Insurrection Act, probably next fall Before any Election's happen. Never mind about the American People, trump will be Drunk with Power,as well as all the Maga Republicans. Hey, Jack? I thought you said this was a Short Read?!! 🤣 Good article, and will reStack ASAP 🙏

Karen, you’re not wrong about the pattern: he floats the move...tests the reaction...then escalates...and when consequences don’t show up...it trains boldness.

Where I’m careful is “next fall.”

Timing depends on whether he gets the sellable trigger...a violent flashpoint...a “local leaders failed” narrative...and the optics that let him say “no choice.”

Without that...he may keep it as a threat. With it, however...the odds spike FAST.

And...yes… “short read” in my world means “shorter than a book.” 😄 Appreciate the reStack.

Excellent read with exceptional key points!

History shows that threats to invoke extraordinary powers are not idle gestures—they exploit fear, optics, and institutional compliance. Your “trigger map” mirrors past crises: escalation happens when leaders can frame a moment as urgent, isolate their target, and rely on bureaucratic green lights. Democracy survives only when these levers are illuminated and resisted.

Optics is everything. A dramatic visual gets media attention. Avoid the visual, the media pays no attention and the issue dies for lack of coverage. If extremist groups try to incite protests, the city leadership needs to identify it for what it is - an inside job to give Trump the excuse he needs. When the incitement is threatened, the citizenry needs to take a few deep breaths and stay calm. Police activity needs to stay overt. Nothing under the table. Surprise helps the extremists.

Jack Hopkins's avatar

Steven...you hammered it. Optics drives permission. One dramatic clip...can hand them the very storyline they want.

I would caution readers not to confuse “no spectacle” with “no coverage.”

The move is visibility without volatility, calm crowds...clear marshals...constant filming... and instant documentation. Make the truth easy to see and hard to spin.

And...YES...if agitators show up...call it what it is...pretext manufacturing. The best defense is overt policing...transparent rules...and zero surprises. Surprise is oxygen for extremists.

I read that if a group of protesters sees some break off and begin being violent, starting buildings on fire, etc., the group should all sit down so police will hopefully recognize the troublemakers are not with the peaceful protesters. Yikes, it would be hard to sit on the icy street in -20 weather.

What do you think Jack? Could the 11th Airborne be headed to Greenland not Minnesota? All those Senators were just in Denmark, will they stop him? Will this cause them to impeach and convict him? 🤔

Hey, Liz. Glad you asked, and I hope Jack chimes in. I’m impressed when Malcolm gets down to brass tacks (or tactics 😉) as he did in this piece. He has years of experience, knows his bizness and DOES NOT PLAY. He can give us details we’d have no way of knowing when different possibilities are on the table.

Jack, what say ye?

What role do the Black Panthers play? Are they for real, or are they staged by the right to go rogue?

Libby AG's avatar

Aren’t the Black Panthers mostly a peaceful group. I know they have a bad wrap because of Chicago but Stokely Carmichael wasn’t for violence. He wasn’t for MLK’s version of protest either, though.

1WhiteTree's avatar

I thought they got a bad rap, too. I'm wondering whether the Panthers in Minneapolis are true descendants, or undercover agents posing as them.

Thankyou for the work you have put into this post.

We all need to support peaceful protest and suggest protestors sing a song anything, but do not allow anger yo result in challenging the Thugs as it appears to be the trigger for them to target the most vulnerable.

What could scare them the modt would be plackards with messages. They can be easily dropped if ICE thugs decide to be violent.

Silent large numbers or singing would drive them nuts.

I am glad the National Guard has been called to protect Minessotans from Trumps criminal gangs. This needs to occur in every state.

Damn, Jack. I am not in Minneapolis and I am old, so I hope they keep it peaceful...and I understand they are frustrated as hell.....

I’m waiting for “ the optics” to start.Portland, during the BLM protests, had been 99% peaceful til the out of state provocateurs showed up, the Umbrella Man, smashing storefront windows, others setting vehicles alight etc. Given half a chance, I fear they will be showing up again, making for great headlines, and 🍊💩’s wet dreams coming to fruition.

The trigger narrative is being created. Check out what the President posted at the bottom of the page from the White House Daily Wire. Referenced video not shared however.

Everything you write here makes total sense. I especially agree the protests must stay nonviolent and with no close, in your face, screaming and shouting. Certainly I can see how that would happen (I myself have reacted wrecklessly in the moment). ICE has been terribly Gestapo-like, ruthless, uncaring. The shame of it is picking Minnesota to stage these ICE raids is retribution at Gov Walz but is directed at some of the least prepared to face this type of evil. Minnesotans are good, salt of the earth people. They are brave for sure but probably surprised this has come to their state - they in general work for the good of the community. I am very proud of the citizens of Minnesota. They have showed up for their neighbors.

It's all timing, and nothing matters to Trump and the GOP more than canceling the midterms. Too many think it will be a "normal" election, but IF it is held at all, it will be cheated like no election before it, and there is no way the results will be permitted to lead to a successful impeachment or a major turnover of Republicans in charge. Every republican in federal office today is counting on this, because a legal non-cheating election is their certain demise! Provoking widespread violent protesting on demand mere weeks before the election (just after October 15) is precisely WHEN the Insurrection Act will be invoked. Trump needs and wants widespread violent rioting, city after city, to invoke the Insurrection Act and cancel the elections altogether. The two go together!

Great article ..Did you not say the black panthers were roaming Minneapolis the other day in one of your articles and would that (if you'd said that) be the trigger drumpf needs?? I would hope that is not true. Some are saying that he really intends to send them to Greenland being that they are trained for cold and ice...I guess we will se what happens. Too many fires to try and keep in order and that is what they want from us. I am trying to limit the number of articles I read and yours is at the top.

Jack, what do you think about the speculation (Malcolm Nance, Steve Schmidt) that the real target of the specific troops he's put on notice is Greenland?

Virginia Cutler's avatar

Not to encourage "conspiracy thinking " but what's to stop this regime from staging an event that gets blamed on protesters? Maybe even more than one event?

And were that to happen in Minnesota- can the regime then postpone or cancel elections nationwide? States control elections. So what would red vs blue states do? He can't deploy troops everywhere. And if he tries to call off elections we definitely will see mass mobilization against the regime.

Has this scenario happened before in our history, where the Insurrection Act interfered with elections?

Sagmoon's avatar

Malcom Nance said on YT that a year ago he predicted if the particular unit was put on notice, it meant DJT would be invading Greenland. This is the same unit mentioned by Nance — they are paratroopers, which means they can parachute into that country. They are also a “Winter or cold weather” unit, which means they are acclimated for either Minnesota or Greenland. If they are still “on notice” it is likely the target is Greenland and he telegraphed this action in his letter to the President of Norway yesterday.
