Of course, I am not a medical doctor. I don’t diagnose, treat or prescribe. For any questions/concerns/doubts, please consult with a physician before starting, taking, etc. It is not recommended for pregnant women or those with kidney disease.
Jack, you have built up enough goodwill and forthright fullness with me that I am going to try this. Sleep is number one on my PhD level of self care that I practice, and this seems worthy as a potential tool in my arsenal. Magnesium was another game changer in my quest for great sleep.
Cheers to a great outcome, and it looks like many may welcome your suggestion.
Thanks for the info. I am going to try this as my sleep has been of and I am the primary caregiver for the other half who will be 80 in october ab=nd has multiple medical issues and is now exhibiting memory issues that i was able to talk both primary md about as he did not go with me for my annual check up. Hopefully this will help me. as an aside he has been a maga but there have been small cracks and he reads some of your stuff without arguing about it. There may be hope there. I take very small steps when discussing it. again thanks for the info
Hi Jack, read your terrific article on Glycine and ordered some along with Taurine (another terrific amino) at Life Extension. 1000 mg, 100 caps for twelve bucks. I recommend Life Extension brand because literally everything is heavily backed up by rock hard documentation and every one of their products are clean. No BS. And prices are very reasonable for what they do. I get all of my supplements there and at Ancestral Supplements. (You might want to check that one out, too.)
I have been fighting a sleeping disorder for decades. It started when I was on psych meds (mainly sedatives) that started having an adverse reaction on me. At one point... before I threw them all in the trash... I hadn't slept a wink in over a month. I feared that I would go insane, seriously. After I was med free and about a week after I pitched them, I got 'some' sleep with the help of Advil PM.
Those prescription sleep meds (Lunesta and Ambien, exclusively) worked like speed on me. Now I usually average around 5 hours a night.
I am going to look these up and order some. I have nothing to lose. Thanks, Jack!
I will definitely give it a try. I am 67 and my deep sleep (per Apple Watch tracker) is only about 30 minutes. My partner gets even less sleep and is always complaining about being tired. Worth a try and I trust your opinion on this.
I second Thorne as a quality product that actually contains what it says it does. My doctor recommended I take their iron bisglycinate and I have no gut issues with it at all. I have also taken other doc recommended products from them. All with good result. If you’re not down with the glycinate pills (Thorne doesn’t sell the powder), another quality physician prescribed brand is Designs for Health.. https://www.designsforhealth.com/products/glycine-powder/#GLY180.
I didn't know Designs for Health sells glycinate pills but have used several other products with good results. Thanks for the tip.
Jack, thank you as always, for your insight as to the importance of good sleep! I have found that since I started taking vitamin K2 along with my D3 I remember more of my dreams than in the past. To your health! Hope you have a safe and relaxing Labor Day holiday. Keep the faith!
I don’t know if Designs for Health has the pills. I do better with powders or tinctures and Thorne doesn’t have just the powder. But Designs for Health does.
Well Jack. I went to my local health food store on Sunday, bought the powder( they recommended 1 tablespoon 15g ) took 1 tsp ( 5g) and slept 3 straight hours before moving! THAT’S a first in a long time!
Repeated same dose last night…………….NOTHING ‼️🤬 I’m upping the dose tonight!
The Thorne capsules I bought from Amazon - 250 capsules @ $29.99 lists 2 capsules as equivalent to 1 gram. I took 3 capsules improving my sleep quality the last 2 nights. However 3 grams would be 6 capsules not 3 capsules. Please correct me if misread your article. Thank you, Jack
This sounds like it's worth a try, at a very reasonable cost (I chose the powder).
I feel the need to point out that with Thorne as well as with most other capsule providers, one SERVING (1 gram) is two capsules, so to get a three gram dose requires SIX capsules, not three. (One brand at least on Amazon provides 1 gram capsules.) Another reason I went with the powder.
I should have it on hand by Thursday, so I can give it a try soon.

Jack, thank you so much for the especially needed article snd for this clarification.

Thanks Jack! I just ordered from Thorne. I trust you. I know this will be totally worth it.
