DO NOT TRUST THE USPS.

I was going to write about this in an upcoming piece... and... unfortunately... ran into this while looking into it: Most states specify in statute how a ballot may be returned... and many name USPS... or... hand delivery specifically; a FedEx envelope can get rejected on arrival.

Outrageous. However, if I don't receive email updates from my county, letting me know when to expect my ballot, I start searching. I haven't used the postal service to mail ballots since 2008, always a drop-box for me and mine. I make sure everyone in my immediate family gets their ballots in and it MUST be in a drop-box specifically, haven't trusted the postal service with ballots for years. Then I enter everyone's name and ss# into the county website for confirmation that all our ballots have been counted, mine is confirmed through email notification. I know, I know, I should rely on them to confirm the vote has been counted but, in this day, and age, and while appearing controlling, I can NOT allow ANYTHING to slip through the cracks. I just can't believe I am living in this day and age, l miss the 1970s terribly.
I sincerely doubt Utah has a non mailing ballot available. They have an out of state printer who has delayed the receipt of ballots because of printing problems in the past. I will check tomorrow. Their "early voting" doesn't commence until one week before election day.

as long as that person ISN'T paid on a per ballot basis.

I will check out our absentee voting ballot requirements. I vote early so I don't do mail in . I did all the time in the Navy, but not now.

Just got home from mailing our mail in ballot requests! The one and only time I did something before you wrote about it!
