Trump's middle finger to the election results. It could be worse but I don't know how. From lurking in the shadows and wreaking havoc to ripping the curtain away and flat out running the White House. Miller's evil goes all the way back to his childhood. Try tempering that.
He has no redeeming qualities. Just like his boss. And he genuinely thinks he's the smartest guy in the room. Just like his boss. Is there any chance his boss gets tired of not being in the spotlight?
I mean, you put 2 snakes in a small box, I have to think one of them is going to have his head bitten off.
Your four-hour test works because it measures temperament. Under pressure, some people reach for the phone to control the room, and some reach for the microphone to win the argument. Wiles reached for the room. Miller has spent his whole career reaching for the microphone.
You can see it in how he talks about power. Last October he went on CNN to defend sending troops into American cities, and he told the audience the president has "plenary authority." That phrase means power with no referee. He froze on live TV for about fifteen seconds afterward, and CNN blamed a technical glitch. Whatever happened in his earpiece, the sentence was already out, and it's the philosophy he brings to every crisis. When the president tried to fire a Fed governor, Miller again argued that the president can do it and the question ends there. A man who believes that has no reason to wait for the facts, because in his mind the facts were never the point.
That's what makes Monday so dangerous. A chief of staff with that belief will hand the president whatever the moment seems to demand, and the president already believes he can do anything. Nobody left in that room will be asking whether it's wise.
Now think about what Susie Wiles carried into that job. She grew up the daughter of a famous man who was loved by millions and who let his own family down while he drank. I suspect she spent a lifetime learning to protect a charismatic man from himself, and she did it out of love as much as duty. She stood between a big personality and the wreckage it could cause, and she did it quietly, because the protector's job only works when nobody notices it. People who do that for years don't walk away easily, and I'd guess she gave Trump the same fierce, tired loyalty she once gave her father.
That is why Friday should sting. The person who spent a year shielding him got blamed for the midterms and handed her walking papers. Anyone who has been the family protector knows how that ends. You hold it together until the day you're told you were the problem, and then you start remembering everything you held together.
And Susie leaves with a phone. It has a year of texts and calls from inside the room, and I'd bet Democrats already know it. Think of Nixon. What finished him was the paper trail, the tapes kept by the people closest to him, and those records outlived every loyalty in that building. Subpoena her, and tell her to bring the phone. A subpoena just means she has to show up and hand over what's asked, and "I'm busy" doesn't get her out of it. A protector can keep a secret for a long time, but she doesn't owe one to the man who just fired her.
You told us to count the hours, Jack. I'll bring the stopwatch.
The Pat Summerall line...yep...that is the key that unlocks her. Protectors do NOT leak. Protectors...who’ve been told they were the problem...they very often DO.
Bring the stopwatch. I’ll bring the subpoena list.:)
Stephen Miller must be constantly ridiculed and challenged. The pressure of being challenged will allow his maleficent anger to overtake him. When this anger overrides Miller - his mistakes will start to accrue. Encompass this Nazi Weasal with problems in all directions..
I made the comment yesterday that Miller’s elevation signaled scorched earth….. still believe it. They will amplify each other and Miller will be the gasoline to t’s worst impulses…. in fact, I would not be surprised if Miller encourages him… or even instigates.. it’s pretty frightening.
Thank you Jack…. I think I understood intuitively what you’ve clarified today and I very much appreciate you doing that. And…..it’s looking like a verrrry interesting holiday season and trudge to the new Congress.
The instigation point...THAT...is the one I’d underline. Wiles was a brake. Miller is an accelerator...who’s spent ten years waiting for someone to take their foot OFF the brake.
He doesn’t have to talk Trump into anything. He just has to stop talking him OUT of it.
Eight weeks of that, over the holidays...with NO subpoena power yet.
This Orange Asshole is destroying our country and now we have this Nazi asshole who’s like a bully in a candy store strong arming everyone and escalating more bullshit for whatever the Orange Fuhrer wants. WTAF!! This is horrifying.

To his childhood, indeed, Jan Moon.

True, Roberta. When I think back to past presidents I didn't like, I can't remember ONE I could have ever said had NO REDEEMING QUALITIES.

No lies detected, Lillian Holsworth.
We... just have to hold on... until that happens, however long it takes!
