You Feel It Too. Good. Now Let’s Use It.
The moment you stop numbing out… is the moment you become dangerous (in the best way possible).
You Feel It Too. Good. Now Let’s Use It.
The moment you stop numbing out… is the moment you become dangerous (in the best way possible).
The Jack Hopkins Now Newsletter #828: Tuesday, March 24th, 2026.
There’s something in the air right now.
You feel it when you wake up.
You feel it when you check your phone.
You feel it in your chest when another headline hits, and your stomach drops just a little further than yesterday.
It’s not just stress.
It’s not just politics.
It’s something deeper.
It’s the quiet, creeping realization that this actually matters now.
Not in an abstract way.
Not in a “we’ll see what happens in a few years” way.
But in a right-now, this-is-happening-on-my-watch kind of way.
And…if you’re honest?
You’re carrying a mix of emotions you don’t quite know what to do with.
Anxiety that things are sliding in the wrong direction
Frustration that the people in charge don’t seem to grasp the stakes
Anger at the hypocrisy, the chaos, the constant manipulation
And underneath it all… a low hum of fear
Not panic.
Not paralysis.
But that steady…uncomfortable awareness that says:
“If people like me don’t step up… who will?”
Let me tell you something you won’t hear enough:
That feeling isn’t weakness.
That feeling is activation.
The Lie That Keeps People Passive
Most people right now are being pushed toward one of two traps.
Trap #1:
“Everything is fine. Stop overreacting.”
Trap #2:
“Everything is broken. Nothing you do matters.”
Both are poison.
Because both lead to the same outcome:
You do nothing.
You scroll.
You vent.
You shake your head.
You maybe share a post or two.
And…then life pulls you back in…
…and the moment passes.
That’s how momentum dies.
That’s how outcomes get decided without you.
But here’s the truth most people miss:
History doesn’t turn on the loudest people.
It turns on the people who decide to participate consistently.
Not perfectly.
Not heroically.
Just consistently.
You Don’t Need to Be Fearless. You Need to Be Focused.
Let’s get something straight.
You don’t need to “feel better” before you act.
You don’t need your anxiety to disappear.
You don’t need your anger to go away.
You don’t need certainty.
What you need… is direction.
Because the same energy that’s making you uneasy?
That’s the exact energy that can make you effective.
Anxiety becomes awareness
Frustration becomes fuel
Anger becomes motion
But…only if you aim it.
Otherwise?
It turns inward.
It burns you out.
It leaves you exhausted and unchanged.
This Is Where Most People Quit (Don’t Be Them)
There’s a moment…right here, right now…where most people make a quiet decision.
They don’t say it out loud.
They don’t even fully admit it to themselves.
But it sounds like this:
“I care… but I don’t know what to do… so I’ll just stay on the sidelines.”
That’s the moment everything slips.
Because the truth is:
You don’t need to know everything.
You just need to do something.
And then something else.
And then something else again.
That’s how momentum is built.
That’s how elections are influenced.
That’s how outcomes change.
The Midterms Are Not a Moment. They’re a Process.
Most people think elections are about a single day.
They’re not.
They’re about everything that happens before that day.
Every conversation.
Every nudge.
Every reminder.
Every person who decides, “Yeah… I’m going to show up this time.”
That doesn’t happen by accident.
That happens because people like you decide:
“I’m not just going to watch this unfold.
I’m going to be part of shaping it.”
Here’s What Power Actually Looks Like (It’s Not What You Think)
Power isn’t screaming into the void.
Power isn’t going viral once.
Power isn’t waiting for the perfect strategy.
Power is quieter than that.
It looks like:
Reaching out to someone who normally tunes out politics and saying, “Hey…this one matters.”
Sharing information that cuts through noise instead of adding to it
Showing up when it would be easier to disengage
Being the steady voice in your circle that says, “No…we’re not checking out right now”
It’s not glamorous.
But…it’s effective.
And effectiveness…is what wins.
You’re Closer to Impact Than You Think
There’s a myth that influence belongs to someone else.
The big accounts.
The insiders.
The people with platforms.
But that’s not how real-world change works.
Most people are influenced by:
Friends
Family
Coworkers
People they trust
That’s you.
Whether you realize it or not…you…are already in a position to shape how people around you think, feel, and act.
The only question is:
Will you use it?
A Simple Shift That Changes Everything
Stop asking:
“What can I do that’s big enough to matter?”
Start asking:
“What can I do today that moves one person closer to showing up?”
That’s it.
That’s the game.
Because…when thousands of people do that?
You don’t get noise.
You get momentum.
This Is the Turning Point (If You Choose It)
Right now…you’re at a fork.
One path looks like this:
You keep feeling what you’re feeling…
…but nothing changes.
You stay informed.
You stay frustrated.
You stay on the sidelines.
The other path?
You take that same energy…
the anxiety, the anger, the urgency…
And you convert it into action.
Not dramatic action.
Not exhausting action.
Consistent action.
And over time?
That becomes influence.
That becomes impact.
That becomes results.
Read This Slowly
You are not powerless.
You are not too late.
You are not “just one person.”
You are exactly the kind of person who shifts outcomes…
if you decide to.
So Here’s the Ask
Not a huge one.
Not an overwhelming one.
Just this:
Don’t sit this one out.
Stay engaged.
Stay aware.
And most importantly…
Stay active.
Have the conversation.
Send the message.
Share the signal.
Encourage the turnout.
Do it once.
Then…do it again tomorrow.
Because This Is How It Happens
Not all at once.
Not in one big moment.
But through thousands of small…intentional actions
by people who decided:
“I’m not checking out this time.”
If that’s you…
Then good.
Because we need you clear.
We need you steady.
We need you in motion.
And right now?
You are closer than you think…to making a difference that actually matters.

Jack spot on. We have turned a small group of about 10 people into 200 plus. We meet and organize resistance rallies from last May day to No Kings ! and 2 and now 3. We have movies once a month. More people are joining to resist and we have formed a community which is more than our Indivisible members.
My property is next to a highway with 15k cars a day. I lit up a tree with so many solar blue lights that it glows for a at least a half of a mile. In a sea of red, I created the tree of hope. (I posted the pic on the substack app, but I don't know how to post it here). I just keep trying to do some little thing every day. Thanks Jack, for helping me be brave enough to do this.
