From whom do we, as citizens, demand proof? Pam Bondi? Kristi Noem? Stephen Miller? And where do we declare our doubts? Online, via social media? I'm really serious, especially in a situation in which we seem to have no hope of the Democrats to do anything...about anything.

Elizabeth, I SO hoped someone would ask this question...thank you!

This is the RIGHT question...and you’re right to be serious about it. Proof isn’t demanded from personalities...it’s demanded from PROCESS.

From sworn statements...filings...evidence entered into court...and actions taken under oath. Doubt belongs everywhere power tries to substitute narrative for law...online...yes, but....ALSO through public records requests...court scrutiny...journalism...and relentless insistence on “show us the evidence.”

The power of the constant and relentless pressure...applied by a growing number of people...is staggering. When is it the most powerful? At the same moment...it feels futile. That's when the opposition is least prepared to deal with a rapidly growing intensity of citizen pushback.,

Parties won’t save this. Standards might...IF citizens keep enforcing them.

Thank you, Jack. It's been their modus operandi for decades. Now it's weaponized. We should absolutely anticipate it for all of us, in every pushback they don't like, by word or deed

Barry...exactly! What changed isn’t the instinct...it’s the reach and confidence.

What used to be background noise...is now a governing strategy. And... you’re right to frame it personally, because once pushback itself becomes suspect...everyone is a potential target by definition. Anticipating it isn’t paranoia...it’s pattern recognition.

When one constantly labels [little Marco, sleepy Joe, low IQ broad] does that water down the impact in any way?

This is a tricky one, Mary E. It CAN...and...it has. But...within the context we find ourselves operating from right now, it usually does the opposite of help.

Counter-labeling feels satisfying...but...especially after a decade of Trump...it mirrors the tactic instead of weakening it.

When everyone labels...the words lose meaning...and the side relying on evidence and process...gives up its strongest advantage: credibility.

Like I said, it's tricky...and...evolving.

IMO, I believe that everything we are observing that is taking place across our country as it relates to law enforcement is the playbook for state by state militarization of our country. Your article coupled with a piece that I received today from a Marine Corps veteran that asks several hard questions, two of which are: Why do we assume tactical gear equals tactical competence and Why do we accept a militarized police force as normal, should be must -read material for everyone! I know you'll appreciate it and wanted to share it with you.
