Jack- an enormous tip of the hat to your work here. As an older white guy, I’ve decided to try to be like the canary in the coal mine a bit to test the depth of this surveillance penetration. My front-facing windows and doors are all anti-trump and pro-democracy memes. My LinkedIn profile contains my home town. My Substack profile is clearly anti-regime. I’ve got my phone camera ready to record if anyone comes a knocking.
a) I deeply believe the current president and his gang (those Congress approved + those merely appointed + most of Congress itself) are amoral, to put it mildly.
b) there are others with whom I disagree on most individual issues but for whom I have unwavering respect; Liz Cheney is an example.
My question: is Ellison a moral, principled person along the lines of Liz mentioned in (b) above or, an unprincipled, amoral paskudnik as the crowd mentioned in (a) above?
At my last visit with my PCP, they asked to record the encounter using AI technology in order to have "more accurate notes." I wondered if I should agree to that, and then wondered if it really mattered because if they're using this technology for in-person visits, they already have ALL of my info in the MyChart data base. It's not really private at all.
