There’s no justification for war on Iran and the Constitution gives Congress the sole power to authorize war therefore Congress must at the very least war powers resolution today.

Jack is correct. Note which stories trend and note which stories move markets, close straits, and redraw military posture. They are rarely the same stories. Every period of structural change in modern history has come wrapped in noise. The noise was real. The outrage was earned. The fear was legitimate. And the thing that actually changed the future happened in the quieter column.

Jack is correct that people follow intensity, not importance. File the date: May 1, 2026. A president declared congressional war authorization unconstitutional. Gas crossed $4.39. European allies were threatened with troop withdrawals. These are load-bearing facts. They will still matter in six months. Most of today’s loudest headlines will not. Note which story you were reading before you got here. That answer tells you something.

Even though I feel concerned about each headline, Jack, I believe that nobody is safe having a president who attacks his adversaries, or even one of them, in court, because if he can do it to one person, he can do it to others, blaming them however he chooses, and he will. We must protect people from such attack by any president! Countries have fallen due to such actions. We cannot be bystanders who think it will not possibly happen to us or anyone we know. Each life is precious, and so is our freedom as individuals and as a country.

At the same time, I believe in checking out the information, but I do not believe in a president bringing charges, himself, against the people in his country. Since it stood out to me so strongly for potential safety reasons for anybody in the future, I still feel that his actions in that headline are of great importance.

I also believe that he has no right to have started war on Iran, and that action is father reaching because he is ignoring Congress and could cause lots of deaths near and far. Congress must stop him. He is harming people in other countries and making enemies in various parts of the world, all making a horrible impression of America and our people. His actions could possibly end the world, all aspects considered.

Still, if he is striking out at his adversaries, what kind of a country would we have right here at home?

Separately, I saw a text today saying that Hilton has taken some action to preserve T.’s presidency. There was a link to click on, which I will not risk doing. Do you know anything about it? Is there a safe way to learn what it means?

I have been on a little break from the news cycle today. The three headlines that popped for me just now: Trump claims there is no need for the war powers act as hostilities have ended, Trump threats of withdrawing troops from Spain and Italy for not supporting his war with Iran, heightening NATO tensions. The last is the redistricting frenzy following Louisiana vs Callais

Military exit from Germany, Italy, Spain

Withdrawal of our troops from NATO countries, particularly from Germany where the hospital is located for troops injured over there. Troops will die in many cases if there is no hospital available for them. Ridiculous and evil!

Withdrawal of us troops from our allies…serious consequences

Trump saying that the war is not illegal after 60 days and implying he will continue it and ignore Congress.

Took your earlier advice and took a break from doom scrolling. But, I did catch that Johnson has sent the House into recess. He is such a little whiny baby, how did they ever vote for him for Speaker? #HoldingFast

Prosecution of his enemies. Serious but not immediately a problem because even SCOTUS would laugh this one out of court. It's intended as punishment (victims have to defend themselves) and a distraction.

Security at the WHCD. Serious but an in-house problem because the wannabee assassin never came anywhere near his intended targets. Another distraction.

Escalation. CRITICAL! Trump is continuing on his (Putin's?) jihad to destroy the world order of the last 80 years. The status quo was not great but it was better than stumbling into major, sometimes worldwide, wars about every 30 years.

trump "floated" the possibility of pulling troops from Germany, allegedly after a call with Putin.

Well… I just bought a tote bag last night that says “86 47” in seashells on it.

🤷‍♀️😎😂

But today driving to work I saw gasoline at $4.19/gallon when just a couple days ago it was $3.89.

So then I started thinking about Iran and wondered if the bit I read about “boots on the ground maybe” was really a thing?!?!

ADDENDUM:

Same gas station is now $4.49/gallon for the LOWEST price option

In less than 24 hours!! An increase of 30 cents!!

WTF

The one I noticed said that Trump had criticized Putin about the war in Ukraine and Putin is falling behind. To tie into this, Trump is threatening to move US troops out of Germany, Spain, and Italy. Additionally, he's threatening to reinstate tariffs on German vehicles. These threats on European nations will force them to move their troops and equipment to their homelands, leaving less for Ukraine or any other nation Trump might target.

Congress has left without any action on the War Powers Act. While they haven't given Trump an answer, inaction is an answer. But Iran has been very clever with their targets on Trump. Those little TikTok things are interesting, and they're clearly meant for a young(er) audience in the US and worldwide. They're actually pretty good.

Have to write this, just had a bitter argument with an in-law over immigration and a different family member who is a MAGA. The one I was talking to said we should just not have a conversation with MAGA man about politics. I said BS. And I said that if we DON'T talk about what is going on and why it's wrong, we are complicit. He just didn't get it. Doesn't want to "lose another family member" because of "point of view". That did it. I told him it's not a "view" it's TRUTH. And if you don't want to lose a family member, well, you're losing THIS ONE by being an idiot.

There is so much….. plus I’ve kinda been doing a mini news fast.

That said… gutting the Voting Rights Act is very concerning. It could potentially realign the country in such a way as to resemble a configuration extant in the Civil War era. About as serious as it gets.

Threatening to pull troops from Germany, Spain and Italy is also concerning. Potentially world altering.

To the best of my knowledge the UAE pulling out of OPEC has largely flown under the radar. I’m really curious what’s behind that and the implications…..

The WHCD security incident seems like noise more than anything.

Congress shirking their duty re: war powers is very concerning. We’re now in an illegal, highly unpopular war that’s weakening us and costing mega-bucks. It will increase the deficit and break us completely if we’re not careful. Don’t even mention how Congress has basically given t the powers of a king by abdicating their power & responsibility….. grrrr! and t also said today he thinks the war powers act is unconstitutional. I’m sorry….. I don’t think he’d recognize the Constitution if it bit him in the ass!!

To summarize….. I’m not 100% certain which is the signal and willing to admit I may have missed it completely….

Many thanks for all you do. 👍
