There’s no justification for war on Iran and the Constitution gives Congress the sole power to authorize war therefore Congress must at the very least war powers resolution today.
Even though I feel concerned about each headline, Jack, I believe that nobody is safe having a president who attacks his adversaries, or even one of them, in court, because if he can do it to one person, he can do it to others, blaming them however he chooses, and he will. We must protect people from such attack by any president! Countries have fallen due to such actions. We cannot be bystanders who think it will not possibly happen to us or anyone we know. Each life is precious, and so is our freedom as individuals and as a country.
At the same time, I believe in checking out the information, but I do not believe in a president bringing charges, himself, against the people in his country. Since it stood out to me so strongly for potential safety reasons for anybody in the future, I still feel that his actions in that headline are of great importance.
I also believe that he has no right to have started war on Iran, and that action is father reaching because he is ignoring Congress and could cause lots of deaths near and far. Congress must stop him. He is harming people in other countries and making enemies in various parts of the world, all making a horrible impression of America and our people. His actions could possibly end the world, all aspects considered.
Still, if he is striking out at his adversaries, what kind of a country would we have right here at home?
Separately, I saw a text today saying that Hilton has taken some action to preserve T.’s presidency. There was a link to click on, which I will not risk doing. Do you know anything about it? Is there a safe way to learn what it means?
I have been on a little break from the news cycle today. The three headlines that popped for me just now: Trump claims there is no need for the war powers act as hostilities have ended, Trump threats of withdrawing troops from Spain and Italy for not supporting his war with Iran, heightening NATO tensions. The last is the redistricting frenzy following Louisiana vs Callais
Jack is correct. Note which stories trend and note which stories move markets, close straits, and redraw military posture. They are rarely the same stories. Every period of structural change in modern history has come wrapped in noise. The noise was real. The outrage was earned. The fear was legitimate. And the thing that actually changed the future happened in the quieter column.
Jack is correct that people follow intensity, not importance. File the date: May 1, 2026. A president declared congressional war authorization unconstitutional. Gas crossed $4.39. European allies were threatened with troop withdrawals. These are load-bearing facts. They will still matter in six months. Most of today’s loudest headlines will not. Note which story you were reading before you got here. That answer tells you something.
Took your earlier advice and took a break from doom scrolling. But, I did catch that Johnson has sent the House into recess. He is such a little whiny baby, how did they ever vote for him for Speaker? #HoldingFast
Withdrawal of our troops from NATO countries, particularly from Germany where the hospital is located for troops injured over there. Troops will die in many cases if there is no hospital available for them. Ridiculous and evil!
Prosecution of his enemies. Serious but not immediately a problem because even SCOTUS would laugh this one out of court. It's intended as punishment (victims have to defend themselves) and a distraction.
Security at the WHCD. Serious but an in-house problem because the wannabee assassin never came anywhere near his intended targets. Another distraction.
Escalation. CRITICAL! Trump is continuing on his (Putin's?) jihad to destroy the world order of the last 80 years. The status quo was not great but it was better than stumbling into major, sometimes worldwide, wars about every 30 years.

We need more people in our government to stand up to the Orange Shitstain. FVCK DUMBT 🖕🏽
trump "floated" the possibility of pulling troops from Germany, allegedly after a call with Putin.
Trump saying that the war is not illegal after 60 days and implying he will continue it and ignore Congress.
TGIF to you and All of your readers, Jack. Excellent piece today. Thank you, have a good weekend and will reStack ASAP 💯👍

Withdrawal of us troops from our allies…serious consequences
Really helpful to be reminded about this. In a whirlwind it's hard to think about how you are evaluating the wind.

The real question: Where's it headed next? Cuba, perhaps?
