Thanks for your update on this developing story. I can fully understand his reasoning as you can, don’t get caught with your pants down holding the bag. You and I both know these actions are illegal within maritime law and someone up the chain of command will pay and he will be a witness. Good for him and I applaud all good sailors who believe in the rule of law.
You nailed it, Bill....that’s exactly right. The smart ones step back when the situation starts smelling like a setup. The rule of law still matters...especially out there, where a single bad call can sink more than just a ship. I agree...good on him for standing his ground.
This is so bad, Jack, only Congress can decide War, Not the president. Yet, again, here we are,in Uncharted waters, absolutely No Good can come of this action. Thank you for writing this out so well, so even a moron could understand what's at stake. TGIF and will reStack ASAP 💯👍
Exactly right, Karen...Congress holds the constitutional power to declare war...not the president. And yet here we are again...watching that line blur.
You’re spot on...nothing good comes from this kind of reckless overreach. I really appreciate you catching the gravity of it… and your words mean a lot. TGIF indeed...and thank you for the restack.
People with a conscience . . . . . the people in charge of this administration don't understand that. Trump and Miller, especially, can't begin to comprehend it. Yet we continue to be surprised when someone of integrity says, "Enough." They are the ones to listen to, to thank, to encourage to show leadership. They are all we have. Pay attention.
Exactly, Jan...integrity shouldn’t feel rare, but lately it does. When someone inside the machine finally says “enough,” that’s not just courage...that’s leadership. Those voices are the compass in all this chaos, and you’re right...they’re the ones we need to pay attention to and protect.
I suspected something like this the minute I heard about our loss of Admiral Holsey. It was going to get uglier faster. There are so many inidicators that Trump wants war to stay in power and is quite willing to cause it. I have been pretty good trying to not be afraid but frankly it is terrifying. I will attend tomorrows walk with my spouse, my neighbors and hope we make a Big difference. Either way I am not a quitter and believe in our nation. Support one another.
You’re absolutely right, Barbara....there’s a pattern here, and it’s impossible to miss. The loss of Admiral Holsey was a turning point...and you’re right to trust your instincts. What’s happening now is dangerous...but your response is exactly what courage looks like: showing up anyway.
Today's walk matters more than you might realize. Every person who refuses to give in to fear helps anchor this country in its better self. Stand tall...stay connected, and remember...fear’s power disappears the moment we act. Proud of you for being out there.
Jack, you know as well as I what it takes to reach the position he has. Every sailor and officer depend on the person in that chair to have integrity and concern for those in their command. Admiral Holsey only became navy southern Command last November. It is unimaginable that he would leave such a distinguished position before the end of his tenure. Everything I read tells me he was a stand up officer. There is something going on behind the curtain and I hope we hear about it after he retires.
I saw all of the buzz about the Admiral's sudden retirement and I knew that something was *fishy* about those boats being blown up. I suspected, before his exit, that they were just blowing brown skinned people out of the water since there is absolutely no proof that these people were nothing more than fishermen. The Admiral kind of confirmed my suspicion. It's says a whole lot without saying nothing at all.
You’re not alone in sensing that something doesn’t line up. When events move that fast ...and facts stay vague ...it’s human to feel that something deeper is being concealed.
The Admiral’s exit, especially under those circumstances, speaks volumes without needing words. You’re right...it says a lot without saying anything at all. We’ll keep watching closely as more light hits this story.
There doesn’t seem to be a way to stop this craziness, through courts or congress, as they have abdicated their authority or have no way to enforce. Do you believe the military will step in at some point to get these people out of office? Is that a realistic viable option?
That’s the question so many people are quietly asking right now, Katherine...and I understand why.
When institutions fail to enforce their own guardrails...it can feel like there’s no line left to hold. But the military’s oath is to the Constitution, not any individual or political movement ...and any intervention outside civilian authority would cross into dangerous territory fast.
Our real leverage still lies with us...relentless public pressure, exposure, accountability, and a refusal to look away.
Every act of civic courage adds weight to the right side of the scale. That’s still how we win this...not by hoping for a coup...but by refusing to let democracy die quietly.
I appreciatethe Admiral's integrity and resolve. His conscience wouldn't allow him to be complicit in blowing up boats and innocent people. He needs causation and that song from Hegseth wasn't playing. I hate that he sacrificed his career for orange pompador. I think we'll see many more sooner rather than later. What scares me is who will be left to tell the monstrous brats no? Thanks for the details, Jack Hopkins!

Death by a thousand cuts 🤬
If they don’t resign, they will be fired, goodbye guardrails
I don't have much to add to that, Mo. Sweet and short....and spot on.

I couldn’t agree more, Nancy...you don’t rise to a command like that without decades of discipline...integrity...and respect from everyone under you.
Admiral Holsey’s departure raises questions that can’t just be brushed aside. His record speaks for itself, and you’re right...this doesn’t add up.
My hope is the same as yours: that, when the time comes, the truth finds daylight.

A good man lost. It’s heartbreaking after a career of honorable service, to have to walk away to retain one’s honor. Well done, Sir.
Respect.
Agreed, Cherae!

Thanks, Jack.
Thanks for your commentary. Well understood, hopefully others understand
You're welcome, Mary.
