Let me tell you something it took me far too long to understand.
The people tearing at this country are not trying to win an argument with you.
They’re not trying to change your mind. They’re not trying to persuade you. Most days…they’re not even really trying to beat you.
They’re trying to wear you out.
Sit with that…because it changes everything about how you fight back.
The flood is the strategy
You’ve felt it. The firehose. One outrage…on top of another on top of another…so fast you can’t finish being angry about the first…before the second lands.
You think that’s chaos. It isn’t.
It’s design.
When everything is an emergency…nothing can hold your attention long enough to become action.
When every single day brings a new gut-punch…your nervous system stops being able to tell the difference between a papercut…and a heart attack. You go numb. You have to. It’s the only way to survive the noise.
And numb…is exactly where they want you.
A numb citizen doesn’t march. A numb citizen doesn’t call. A numb citizen doesn’t give money…doesn’t organize…doesn’t vote…doesn’t even argue at Thanksgiving.
A numb citizen scrolls…sighs…and mutters “what’s the point” …and then goes quiet.
That quiet? That’s the win they’re going for. Not your agreement. Your silence. Your exhaustion. Your slow…tired drift toward the couch.
They don’t need you to agree with them. They just need you to be too tired…to get up.
