I have been watching the decisions coming out, some great, some unfortunately predictable. Today's ruling on the birth right citizenship was a giant sigh of relief. The guardrails held, the Constitution was upheld. The fight will continue, but today we have that, and some relief that mail in voting will be counted. #HOLDFAST

While I guardedly celebrate this decision, I am more than certain that “they” will be back again with another attempt to end birthright citizenship and overturn the 14th Amendment. These folks are doggedly determined see an end to birthright citizenship, and from what I have heard, we came very close, too close for comfort, to seeing birthright citizenship ended today, as it was a 5-4 decision and it should never have been that close. We need to be vigilant!!

Big sigh of relief. The Constitution held. For now. SCOTUS recognizes some limits.

But why only 5 to 4? Why not 9 to zero? And for that matter why did SCOTUS choose to hear this case?

On balance the decisions of this SCOTUS vastly expanded Trump’s powers. He can now fire heads of independent agencies at will. They opened the door to even more grotesque sums of money into political campaigns.

The Court did do right by Birthright Citizenship, Mail-in voting, E Jean Carroll, and a couple other rulings. But in sum, the corrupt Justices showed their contempt for the law and the American people.

The decision carried in favor by a vote of 5-4. Great! But…who is to say that this issue doesn’t get revisited again under review of SCOTUS? And with a different outcome? Isn’t there a way to codify this amendment and decision so that it is permanently enshrined into law? No more changes? Our country was built on the backs of immigrants and Native Americans for hundreds of years.
