I swear if I didn’t Vote my Dad would come down from heaven and kick my old sagging ass! I’ve never not voted since I was allowed to. I know where my polling place is and I’m buried in snow but I’ve got 4 wheel drive truck and I’ll shovel my way out to get to my voting place and my Corgi service dog is coming with me with a blue scarf I just finished for him.

My sister (67) and I (71) have repeatedly said we refuse to give in and we never will.

When someone tells me I can’t, that is when I dig my heels in and say watch me! I will not cow to the addled, misinformed voices. They will not tell me differently. I have voted for 50 years and won’t stop now. I only missed once and that was because I was ill on Election Day. It was not a presidential, just local.

I am right there with you at 74. I have voted every time I was eligible.

Haven't missed a single vote either. I started when my grandmother and all her friends were the poll workers.

I’ve voted in every election since I could vote! 9+ months pregnant with our son I stood (awkwardly) in the voting booth to cast my vote…in following elections our kids came with us, and we took turns voting while the other of us entertained them! It is my RESPONSIBILITY as a citizen to vote to make my voice heard…and this regime will not intimidate me, I will vote in our primary and then in the mid-term election!

I have been voting since I was legal and my dad always said this is part of being a free democratic country.I don't want anyone to be afraid to vote. I tell people that say I did not vote cause it would not make a difference and I immediately say The fastest way to lose is to not practice your right to vote....EVERY VOTE COUNTS..and you need to exercise your right to vote.

I am not worried about them stealing the election. They are getting pretty well organized though, and I don't see the same momentum or much really in terms of strategy on the part of the democratic party. I am legit concerned the dems will simply blow this, even picking up a couple seats, when far more is needed.

Spot on, Jack! We need to remember that the 2024 election was a real-life definition of apathy, indifference, and/or surrender. Approximately 1/3 of eligible voters didn't vote. We will never know for sure if this affected the end result, but it exposed a vulnerability.

I would agree that voter confidence matters, but push back on the idea that most concerns about elections are just psychological manipulation. Dismissing all skepticism as mind games risks ignoring legitimate questions about how elections are run and how trust is built. It’s important to reject conspiracy theories, but it’s equally important not to treat every doubt as dangerous. Strengthening democracy means being transparent, encouraging participation, and addressing concerns directly — not framing disagreement itself as the real threat.

I've been agonizing over this for two days. Birth certificate? Passport? I have a birth certificate but not a passport. Can I get one by November? Do I need my marriage certificate? Is my maiden name on it? My husband is deceased. Do I need his death certificate? Nine months to figure this out. Is that long enough?

All of this is so wrong…no one should have to jump through “their hoops” to vote, when we’ve been voting without any issues for years…they’re so afraid of US and this is what it is all about!!!

You don’t need a death certificate if your name matches your marriage license. You have time to get a Real ID. I’ve gathered my docs (certified birth cert., two marriage certificates, two divorces, because I kept his name the second time so my household would all have the same last name.) I’m certain I won’t need them because of the real ID, though. Oklahoma has one of the best voting systems in the country and I worked at the polls for years before I moved to another county. I’ll register for the training in case there are changes, then will volunteer to be a watcher. Going to call the county election commissioner tomorrow. I’m excited about it.

Thanks, Jack, for the oomph booster!

Folks have been using the banner, "Never obey in advance." In advance of what?

They already decided they would capitulate when it got too hard. They just didn't give a date. I sincerely wish they could find a new ending. Never obey immoral or unjust laws. Ever. "Never Submit. Never Surrender." NS² Phrase used by Mike Anderle in one of his science fiction novels. John McCain lived by that commitment.
