Great advice. Grieve the loss and then assess the lessons. I was talking about this with someone at lunch today after the 2024 election. The gut punch, panic, that we felt but, did we do all that we could do personally to bring a different outcome. The answer was yes. Now we are here again doing all we can do to win the Mid-terms. I feel hopeful that the blinders are falling away, the cracks in this regime are starting to show, maybe this is the fight we win. #holdfast

Thank you Jack, I was looking for this :)

Living as I do in a red state, I have learned a lot about the Long Game... and for me it's always "Game On".

This week was particularly challenging for me because Monday the 17th would have been my mother's 93rd birthday and Wednesday the 19th makes 10 years since she passed. So in keeping with her memory and remembering that we are here for the long haul to Hold Fast (particularly in western North Dakota) I made sure to do the following tasks - I donated to several campaigns, attended a community meeting, made sure I did a number of acts of kindness. I also reminded myself that last week heading into the grocery store I had seen a young black man wearing a flag t-shirt with large white letters reading HOLD FAST and that made my day. Thank you Jack for your great advice. This old 71 year old uses your advice repeatedly and I also released a little tension by having a private cursing rant.

You are a true warrior. Living in Florida is a similar red experience but we are hopeful to at least turn purple..

Very much like the British - Keep Calm and Carry On.

Always a helpful read. You've expanded on one of my favorites prayers. I don't pray any more and haven't for years, but find a few of them provide good advice from time to time: "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to distinguish one from the other." Keep up the fight.

I was brought up on that.

Excellent advice. When it begins to get to me, I remember the British during the Blitz. And current Ukrainians. And (after I rabbit holed into the 1960s protest era) this tune: https://youtu.be/VxIhQ6vj-jo?si=ZMWZfmxpU93RHbbd. To quote Joyce Vance, Giving up is not an option.

I believe her book is "Giving up is Unforgivable". She is a true warrior. We could all take a page from the Ukrainians.

Thank you for the correction. And yes, we’re under attack but not literal bombs like Ukrainians. We can and must hang in there.

Jack I have had to pick myself up several times in life and looking back I feel I have followed this pattern that you just posted. My father was an example to me being a paraplegic from WW II and have one of th first hand controls to drive a car, founding his own general contracting business to build homes and most were for disabled veterans. He would go to the black part of town every morning on workdays and pick up day laborers and loan them money if they needed it. He was probably the most respected and trusted man I have ever known. He would give you the shirt off his back if that was all he had. He passed in 1968 with a brain stem tumor found on autopsy. They did not have the technology then and even if they did the results of a surgery would have been to leave him as a vegetable most likely. But thanks he taught more through actions than verbal lessons were immeasurable. You are speaking the same language. It's really how wars have to be fought , to know when to make changes and protect your troops.

Thans for verbalizing this jack..a great reminder of how life should be led.
