The Doors They’d Open: What a “Far-Right Asylum Program” Would Really Mean for Democracy
What happens when the words “refuge” and “regime” start meaning the same thing.
The Jack Hopkins Now Newsletter #609: Monday, October 20th, 2025.
Authors note: Miles Taylor made a post that said, “Trump is finalizing plans to offer U.S. asylum to far-right, anti-immigrant protesters in Europe.”
Which Miles Taylor?
The Miles Taylor who is an American national-security expert and former senior government official who served as Chief of Staff at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security under the Trump administration
Yeah. That one. That Miles Taylor doesn’t blow smoke up your ass, I assure you.
The Hypothetical That Shouldn’t Feel Possible
Imagine this headline blaring across every network:
“White House Announces Special Asylum Program for Persecuted Conservatives from Europe.”
The podium glitters…flags line the backdrop…and the spokesperson beams.
“These brave men and women are being silenced by authoritarian regimes for expressing their beliefs. America will be their sanctuary.”
The crowd applauds. The chyron flashes Humanitarian Breakthrough.
But something in your gut whispers: wait… what?
It sounds patriotic. It sounds compassionate.
It also sounds like the opening chapter of a very old playbook…one written by rulers who learned long ago how to use the language of freedom to dismantle freedom itself.
How the Sales Pitch Works
You’ve seen this movie before.
Step 1: Pick a noble value…free speech…safety…fairness.
Step 2: Redefine it so completely that no one recognizes it.
So the stated motivation is obvious:
“Europe has turned against free thinkers. America will be their refuge.”
Cue images of earnest young men clutching flags…censored journalists, “cancelled professors.”
They’re rebranded as martyrs of truth.
Television pundits praise the courage to “stand against globalist suppression.”
Hashtags bloom: #FreedomFlights.
And in living rooms across America, people nod…“Well, we’ve always been a refuge for the persecuted.”
That’s the genius of the con.
You don’t sell the poison…you sell the bottle labeled Hope.
The Real Motives Beneath the Slogan
Now strip off the patriotic varnish.
A. Importing Ideological Muscle
Every movement needs true believers.
A “humanitarian corridor” framed this way becomes an import pipeline for ready-made loyalists…people whose worldview mirrors the regime’s and whose gratitude ensures silence.
B. Global Optics and Psychological Chess
On the world stage, it flips the script:
“We’re defending liberty; Europe censors dissent.”
That narrative disarms critics abroad and converts foreign outrage into domestic applause.
C. Domestic Distraction
When the news cycle turns hostile…protests…indictments…falling markets…nothing diverts attention like a “historic rescue.”
It paints the leader as magnanimous while critics look petty.
D. Cultural Engineering
This isn’t immigration; it’s ideological transfusion.
Infuse a democracy with imported grievance long enough…and the national bloodstream changes composition.
The Threat Matrix
Democracy doesn’t implode; it erodes.
A program like this would:
Politicize asylum. Humanitarian law becomes partisan reward.
Erode international trust. Allies view it as sanctioning extremism.
Legitimize hate speech. “Persecution” becomes a PR shield for bigotry.
Undermine institutions. When law and compassion are weaponized, bureaucracy becomes propaganda delivery.
The quiet result:
A government that looks democratic…sounds benevolent…and governs like a monarchy in moral disguise.
The Mechanisms of Manipulation
Let’s deconstruct the marketing.
The Framing: “We protect victims.” Classic empathy hijack.
The Hero Creation: “They’re punished for speech.”…Conflates criminal incitement with noble dissent.
The Moral Bait: “If you oppose this, you hate freedom.” …Turns skepticism into sin.
The Narrative Loop: Flood media with heart-tugging anecdotes…bury data.
The Emotional Anchor: Constant reminders of Europe’s “decay,” implying only strong leadership can save civilization.
Campaign Strategist’s Law of Political Marketing
“He who controls the offer controls the market.”
In politics…the “market” is public emotion.
Here, the offer is moral superiority at no personal cost.
“Be a hero…just agree with us.”
And once you’ve bought that first lie…you’ll buy the next…because consistency is cheaper than courage.
The Hidden Hook
Seasoned campaign managers would say: “Always look for the messaging that scares the hell out of you…because that’s the one that sells.”
This asylum idea sells fear disguised as compassion.
The hook isn’t “help them.”
It’s “They’re coming for you next…unless we act.”
That’s how you turn voters into soldiers: by convincing them they’re already under siege.
The Pivot: From Idea to Identity
Some campaign managers’ “magic” lies in fusing logic and self-image.
This policy would do the same.
“Support the corridor, and you’re a defender of Western civilization.”
It’s no longer about asylum; it’s about identity.
Once people tie belief to self-worth…facts bounce off armor.
Historical Echoes (Without the Lecture)
Every authoritarian pivot begins with a redefinition of virtue.
In the 1930s, it was “restoring pride.”
In the 1950s, “protecting tradition.”
In the 2020s, hypothetically, it could be “saving free speech.”
The slogans change; the architecture stays the same:
Invent threat.
Promise safety.
Demand loyalty.
Democracies don’t die by force…they die by applause.
The Domino Effect on Democracy
If such a policy existed, three dominoes would already be wobbling:
Domino 1: Legal Precedent.
Once asylum becomes ideological…precedent follows. Tomorrow’s administration could reverse it for their friends.
Domino 2: International Fallout.
Allies retaliate diplomatically…isolating the U.S….weakening cooperative defense of democratic norms.
Domino 3: Domestic Radicalization.
Imported zealotry meets local disillusionment…a perfect petri dish for violence disguised as patriotism.
The Counter-Move: Citizen Vigilance
Here’s the part most people miss:
The antidote isn’t cynicism…it’s literacy.
You fight manipulation by learning its grammar.
When leaders borrow the language of liberty, ask:
Who benefits if I believe this?
What evidence am I not seeing?
Why the rush? Why now?
Democracy’s immune system is discernment.
Stop using it…and propaganda becomes policy.
The Optics Game Ahead
Expect three phases of spin:
Compassion Phase: “We’re helping voices of conscience.”
Correction Phase: “Media misunderstood the program.”
Condemnation Phase: “Only traitors oppose free speech.”
By then, the debate’s over.
Because the minute morality is monopolized, democracy’s on defense.
The Power of Saying “No”
A wealthy railroad tycoon once said, “Refusing the wrong offer is how you stay rich.”
Politically…refusing the wrong narrative is how a nation stays free.
You don’t have to march.
You don’t have to tweet.
You just have to recognize the con and say, “Not this time.”
What Comes Next (If We Let It)
Hypothetically…such a policy wouldn’t stop with asylum.
Once you can import ideology…you can export accountability.
Next steps might include:
Funding like-minded NGOs under “speech freedom” grants.
Creating advisory councils filled with imported loyalists.
Leveraging propaganda abroad to pressure European politics.
In chess terms…it’s not a move…it’s a gambit.
Sacrifice truth now to capture the world later.
The Real Test for Democracy
This scenario is only fiction at the moment…but only barely.
Because democracy’s biggest test is never whether bad ideas exist.
It’s whether good people can recognize them dressed as virtue.
We don’t lose liberty when tyrants rise.
We lose it when citizens shrug and say, “Well, maybe they have a point.”
Freedom requires effort; manipulation requires comfort.
Guess which one sells better.
Final Word: The Smell Test
If an administration ever promises to rescue the “persecuted” while defining persecution as “criticism of hate,” close your eyes and sniff.
If it smells like moral panic wrapped in patriotic perfume…it probably is.
And remember: the most dangerous door in history always says “Welcome.”
Back soon,
-Jack
P.S. If you want to help get this in front of more people…and get every newsletter that goes out…while doing so….consider becoming a paid subscriber….because that’s how both of those things happen.
Thanks Jack!
One comment is that while selling a "message", by the Dems, which everyone, not MAGA, is demanding, we must message in "linguistics". Without a democracy no message matters.
One doesn't offer asylum to anyone while terrorizing those who actually support it while subsequently being under attack themselves. This has always been my tach-anti-tach of "flood the zone" as it is like Trump casinos. Too close together they fail.
That tach comes from whom?
That whom is not someone that can be trusted or has experience in anything but anti-tach. A podcaster gone hippie drunk rogue and was in Rikers long enough to "think" he's got a tat with a tear under his eye. He's far from anything credible or even less.
I'm from a place where Trump is attacking using his false flags and he's at odds with reality.
Take Afghanistan as a very real example internationally.
Biden may be blamed, through narrative corruption, as it very well would have been Trump, but Biden or Trump who withdrew, under the "supposed" agreements of the DOHA between the Taliban and Trump 1.0, without Afghanistan's presence is yet but another "peace" failure, etc.
He then stops any asylum efforts, by the Afghanistans being tortured, by his failure.
The women and girls he made no carve out for. But, the Taliban are terrorizing Afghan men too.
If you see a DOT...Look for the next DOT...then look for the next and continue.
This has happened in critical situations, involving Trump with a bit of a backbone in 1.0, but today is rampant.
Just look at our miserable rare earth mineral situation. No matter the outcome of trying to sway the Aussie's, the Chinese have been on their game, over several admins. Trump has failed no differently.
Did Obama say he had deep regrets on Yemen, YES. ADULTING.
Who sold who weapons to be used against Yemenis? You guessed it.
If people don't like Mamdani and, my point of view is not entered, why support a POTUS dealing in Muslim only countries, for profit and prosperity, even hosting a military base, here on US soil, for terrorist backers?
Let's us please back up the bus before "flooding our own zone"!
Miles is very knowledgeable but Miles NEVER offers a plan. Nor dos Cohen. Nor do many.
Info is info. Trusted or not. We must trust what we do and discern accordingly.
I'm not saying info is not useful. I'm saying give me a Rolodex of legal bulldogs in foreign countries to sue what can be sued but never will be until we get a spine of our own.
Trump isn't the spine. The fact everyone else is SPINELESS is the problem.
People like to use the phrase to describe this administration as being "Upside Down" I'd like to change that to "Upside Wrong"‼️ Excellent piece tonight, Jack, Thank you,as always, I'll reStack ASAP 💯👍
