Sneaky bastards….. just think: if all the energy the muthafreakers expend figuring out how to rig the system, get around shit was spent on say…… winning people over or just doing the gd right things… what kind of society we’d have.
I’m in a bit of a fuck ‘em all, off with their heads mood today. Still reeling from Dolly exiting stage left. Such a good human…. and this current bunch of a waste of protoplasm people in the highest offices…? Well… we seem to be in the upside down world and am not liking it… not that it matters….
Yeah...Dolly and this asshole are SUCH a stark contrast...and...there does seem to be an injustice about him outlasting her. NO Question about that.
Perhaps the most irritating thing...about the mail-in voting issue...is that they are...at least on this...and up until now...are managing to do this WITHOUT breaking the law.
Let me be the first to say that just because something is deemed legal... it says nothing about it being RIGHT. Something can be done, legal...at least technically...and STILL f*ck over a whole lot of people.
Exactly, Jack! I have worked with people like that…. Their response of welllll, it’s NOT illegal…….. would just grind my gears. I don’t know that I ever actually said, “welllll, what about UNETHICAL a**hole!?!” but I sure would now. Then I remind myself these people have no empathy, likely run on fear as you referenced in the ‘power over’ article and do not give a rats rear about ethics and the right things….. even though I know that in my head…. it still bugs me….
Even Dexter’s dad tried to channel his energy toward a greater good…. probably a crappy example but still…!
P.S. Also goes to the old …. Just because you can doesn’t mean you should…. Hoping for some instant karma with this whole bunch…. Jail might be too good for them.
Jack, I think your point deserves even more attention than it is getting.
We talk about voting access as though the only question is whether a ballot technically exists. That misses something fundamental: democracy is also shaped by the number of steps a citizen must successfully complete before that ballot becomes a counted vote.
Mail voting makes this especially clear. States impose different requirements—signatures, signature verification, witnesses, identification, and in some states notarization. Oklahoma, for example, requires absentee ballots to be notarized, creating another step between the voter and a counted ballot.
And this is why I believe checking your voter registration status is becoming absolutely essential. Check it regularly. Check it before you vote. Check it again before an election. Do not assume that because you were registered yesterday, you will necessarily appear on the rolls tomorrow.
None of this means election security is unimportant. It means we should recognize that every additional procedural hurdle creates another opportunity for confusion, error, delay or disenfranchisement.
I agree with your larger warning, Jack: democracy can be weakened without anyone ever announcing that democracy is being weakened. Sometimes it happens through procedures that look merely technical.
Pay attention. Verify your registration. Know your state’s voting rules. And never assume your right to vote will protect itself.
Jane... this is one of many reasons I'm glad you're here.
You zeroed in on the thing I danced around: the ballot existing...and the ballot getting COUNTED... are two different questions...and every step BETWEEN them...is a place to lose people.
The notarization example... yeah... that's the one that stops me. That's a stranger... business hours...and possibly a fee...for a VOTE. No...it doesn't LOOK like a barrier on paper. It just quietly COSTS a voter on their Tuesday.
Also, Jane... you're sure as hell right that registration isn't a one-time thing anymore. Check it. Then check it AGAIN.
Yes, check your registration now and a few more times before November. Also start making your plans now for voting and if you are going to the polls in person, carry another voter or two with you.
The better we UNDERSTAND the ever-changing landscape this moron keeps introducing, the better we're able to navigate it... and REDUCE...or even NEGATE the impact they intend it to have on the upcoming elections.
Voting in THIS election with any attitude other than "We CAN" would lower voter turnout... and that is a self-fulfilling prophecy... we cannot afford to let come true.
We are still able to go and vote in person. But looking at all this shows the pattern of sowing confusion among the least informed. They don’t have to steal the ballots, just keep the confused at home 👹
So much of what they're doing doesn't necessarily require it to WORK, per se. If they can use it to create enough CONFUSION...a lot of the "work" (that they're hoping for) will be done by US.
That's one reason I am working so hard...to simplify as many of these topics as possible.
NOT because I think this community is anything less than brilliant. No. But...being at least a half-way intelligent person myself, I know I STILL grasp things more fully and completely...if I can reduce them down to the lowest common denominator.
I have checked my voting status and my mail in request several times, before we had our primaries and then again recently before the mail ballots for the general election for mid terms are sent. Then I will do wheat I have always done.. taken my ballot to the supervisor of elections own drop box that is a few miles away. We all must be vigilant. I have read all these decisions by different judges and the insane thing the unsupreme court put out. They should have just said the voting belongs to the states, but sadly this group of 6 are the most corrupt ever.
With respect to the USPS “pallet” scenario about picking up mail in ballots, that would mean picking up our filled out ballots, right? Or can the USPS do the same in delivering ballots to the voters to begin with? Who’s to say it can happen both ways? I thought it was the states who oversees the elections and the feds only has some oversight. I’m overthinking or confusing what’s going on, but I guess that is what the regime is going for.

We always vote absentee and have mailed every time. I am marginally mobile. We will be driving to the election HQ this year to drop them off.
