Nothing You Need Comes Out of His Mouth
The Federal Register knows more than the interview ever will.
The Jack Hopkins Now Newsletter #1,054: Monday, October 12th, 2026.
No more live rallies. No more sit-down interviews. No more “Trump said today” headlines. Not a boycott. Not a ban. Just a quiet, unanimous editorial choice: we cover what this man does…and we stop renting him our airtime for what he says.
Here’s the claim I’m going to prove to you in the next five minutes:
You would not lose one single fact you actually need. Not one. And he would lose the only asset that has ever mattered to him.
I know. That sounds too clean. Stay with me.
The Asset Nobody Wants to Name
Let me be blunt about something every editor already knows and will not say out loud.
Donald Trump has never had a product. He has had attention. That’s the whole business. The real estate, the television show, the campaigns…every one of them ran on the same fuel, and the fuel was never his money. It was yours. Free media.
In 2016 the analysts put a number on it: billions of dollars’ worth of coverage he never paid a dime for. No candidate in American history has converted raw attention into power so efficiently…and…he did it by understanding one thing better than the people covering him.
The rebuttal is still a broadcast.
Fact-check his claim…and you’ve carried the claim to ten million people who’d never have heard it.
Put him in an interview…and the corrections are four percent of the airtime; the other ninety-six is him…unfiltered…talking to your audience on your dime. Run the rally live…and your logo sits in the corner of his campaign commercial.
He doesn’t need you to agree with him. He needs you to point the camera. That’s the lever. Everything else…is noise.
Empty Calories, Delivered Daily
Now here’s where the skeptics get loud. “But we have to know what the President thinks!”
Do you? Let’s test it.
Think about everything that actually changes your life. Tariffs. Executive orders. Appointments. Pardons. Troop movements. Regulatory rollbacks. Court filings. Budgets.
Every one of those…leaves a paper trail that exists…whether or not a single microphone is turned on.
The Federal Register publishes orders. Courts publish rulings. Agencies publish rules. Congress publishes votes. Markets react to tariffs in minutes…in public…in numbers.
Now think about the speech. The pattern is documented to the point of boredom: claims contradicted within days…policy announcements that never become policy… threats that turn out to be trial balloons.
Covering those words is covering things that mostly don’t happen. You are being informed…at great length and volume…about hypotheticals.
And the hypotheticals that do become real? They show up in the action record. Usually within a week. The signal was always going to reach you. The words were just the static on top.
Here’s Everything You’d Still Know
Let me walk you through a blackout day so you can see there’s no hole in it.
His own posts stay public.
Anyone who wants the raw feed can read it. The press simply stops being the delivery truck.
Official transcripts still exist.
Press briefings, testimony, signed documents, White House releases. Boring. Searchable. Complete.
Allies and opponents will tell you what he said.
Senators, governors, foreign ministries, the opposition party. They respond to what matters and ignore what doesn’t. That’s a filter you get for free.
Reporters still cover consequences.
“The President threatened X on Tuesday; here’s what happened Wednesday.” The threat is reported as a cause, not performed as a show.
Investigations keep going.
The reporting that actually changed anything in the last decade came from documents…sources…and court records. Not from interviews.
Add it up…and the relevant two percent of his speech…filters through on its own. The other ninety-eight percent…the part that exists only to be amplified…falls away.
That’s not a loss of information. That’s a loss of amplification. The two are not the same thing…and he has spent a decade…betting you’d never notice the difference.
This Isn’t a Theory. It’s Already Policy.
Newsrooms already make exactly this call, just inconsistently.
Most networks quietly stopped carrying his rallies live after 2016. Why? Because they couldn’t fact-check in real time and they knew it.
Several outlets adopted written policies…against airing live statements…they expected to contain falsehoods. That’s a blackout. A partial, embarrassed…selective blackout.
After Christchurch, New Zealand’s press and its prime minister declined to name the shooter. Deny him the notoriety…deny the next one the model. Nobody called that censorship. Nobody argued the public was uninformed about what happened.
Major outlets refuse to publish manifestos. They refuse to air hostage videos. They refuse to broadcast the names of kidnapping victims. Editorial judgment about what to amplify…is the oldest job in the building.
All I’m asking…is that the judgment be applied with a spine…instead of a shrug.
Three Objections, Handled
“That’s censorship.” No. He can speak.
He has the largest personal platform of any politician alive. You’re not stopping his mouth. You’re declining to be his loudspeaker. Those are different acts…and he knows it…which is why the loudspeaker is the thing he fights for.
“Sometimes the statement is the action.”
Fair. A presidential threat can move a market or rattle an ally. So report the effect: the market moved…the ally responded… here’s the document. The effect is the news. The sentence that caused it is a citation… not a headline.
“The audience just goes to the outlets that didn’t sign on.”
Some of it will. But the attention economy is not infinite. His power came from being the only story in every room at once. Take him out of most rooms…and he’s a cable host with a loyal niche. Loud. Smaller. Contained.
Do It Anyway
I’ll make the ask simple.
Editors:
Write it down. “We report actions and consequences. We do not air or interview.” One sentence. Enforce it for ninety days and watch what happens to his news cycle. He will escalate to get the camera back. That escalation is itself the proof.
Readers:
Stop clicking. Every “he said” headline you open is a vote for more of them. You are the demand. Starve the supply.
He built an empire on one trick:
Making you look. Looking away isn’t surrender. It’s the only move he has never had an answer for.

Back soon.

P.S. If you think he’s too important to ignore…ask yourself who taught you that. Then ask who profits…every time you believe it.
P.P.S. Yes, I see the irony. I just wrote 1,100 words about a man I’m telling you to stop watching. Here’s the difference, and it’s the whole point: this piece is about the camera, not the man.
Read it twice…and you’ll notice he doesn’t get a single quote. Not one line of his…not one clip…not one performance relayed for your reaction. That’s the rule. Cover the mechanism…the money…the consequences…the record. Never hand him the microphone. I didn’t. Neither should they.

The Orange Shitstain has always been a media whore.. starve him of his oxygen.. cause I don’t give a flying fuck about anything he has to say.
Excellent analysis and advice!
Seems so simple, but there are so many forces and "traditions" preventing the media taking the only logical steps, just as Jack suggests.
Trump is al "Snap, Crackle and Pop" - with no actual Rice Krispies. (but I date myself...)
