The Promise: This Can Keep You From Losing Hope, Giving Up, and saying "F*CK IT!"
We all know it’s not healthy to spend a lot of time feeling the emotion of deep anger. It’s been well documented for decades that anger contributes to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, stroke, hypertension/high blood pressure, and many other diseases, like cancer, for example.
Yet, in recent times, I’ve been discussing the vital role of anger, especially with the looming election that could spell the end of democracy, freedom, and the potential loss of our most basic human rights.
I think we can all agree that having ten fingers is better than nine, having no hand is better than having no arm and losing one eye...is better than losing both. In certain circumstances, such as having your hand pinned between two huge rocks...far away from any town or populated area...where you’ve now been trapped for three days with no food or water, it’s conceivable that you might choose to sever your hand and escape...trading your hand...for your life.
When it comes to the anger that serves to keep many people from giving up, becoming hopeless, and succumbing to learned helplessness...I suggest that collectively...and personally...it’s worth the risk of contributing to an exacerbated and accelerated step towards some chronic disease for the possibility of interrupting the attack on democracy and likely giving ourselves another four years to get our shit together in hopes of extending that time period even longer, by keeping the White House after the 2024 election.
I know I see the necessity of that risk for myself.
However, I also know a few “tricks” for maximizing the emotional benefits of anger and minimizing the health risks associated with it. I’m going to share one of them with you today.
We must realize that we must tap into and utilize the immense power of anger in this election, but we must find a way to do so without allowing it to destroy us. I know how and have taught people around the world how to do the same. Now, I’m going to share it with you.
