The Jack Hopkins Now Newsletter #971: Thursday, July 16th, 2026. 12:20 PM CST
Here’s a thing you almost never get in this business: a chance to grade the paper before it’s written.
Donald Trump is going on television tonight in primetime. He’s promised “really, really big news.” He told Newsmax our elections are crooked and we’ve got to straighten them out. He’s inviting the heads of the CIA, the FBI, the ODNI, and DHS to sit in the room and watch him do it.
So…let’s do something useful with the next several hours.
I’m going to tell you what’s coming. Some of you are going to watch. And…then…you’re going to know something about me, and about him…that no amount of arguing could ever teach you.
Deal?
The Tell Arrived Before the Speech Did
CBS reported Wednesday that part of the address will allege Chinese meddling…that Beijing compromised American voter data…and that the CIA knew and kept it from him during his first term.
The White House was asked about it.
Read the response carefully, because it’s a small masterpiece:
Anonymous sources are speculating. Nobody knows yet what he’ll ultimately say. So everyone should tune in.
Look at what that is.
It isn’t a denial. Nowhere in there does anyone say that’s false. It’s an advertisement wearing a denial’s clothes. “You don’t know what’s coming…better watch” is not damage control. That’s a promo read.
When the pushback on a leak is tune in…the leak…wasn’t a leak.
Now Let’s Look at the Actual Document
Here’s the load-bearing claim: China compromised U.S. voter data.
There is a real document underneath that. I want you to see it…because it matters that I’m not telling you he made it up. He didn’t. He’s doing something more effective than making it up.
In April 2020, the National Intelligence Officer for Cyber wrote a memo…declassified in 2022, heavily redacted…noting that Chinese intelligence analyzed voter registration data from multiple states. The stated purpose…right there in the document: to conduct public opinion analysis on the 2020 election.
Public opinion analysis.
They were reading the room. The same thing every campaign…every pollster…and every cable network in America does.
The memo doesn’t say how they got the data. It doesn’t have to…and here’s the part that’ll make you laugh: in many states, voter registration data is available to the public. You can request it. Journalists do. Campaigns do. Marketers do.
And…nowhere in the unredacted portions…does anyone accuse China of altering the data…touching a machine…or interfering with a single vote.
So the raw material is: a foreign country did opposition research…using a list you can legally download.
That’s what’s about to be broadcast to the nation as the discovery of the century.
The Part That Falls Apart Fastest
The real sizzle isn’t China. It’s the betrayal story…they knew, and they hid it from me.
That one has a problem.
On January 7, 2021, John Ratcliffe…Trump’s own Director of National Intelligence… publicly argued that the intelligence community’s assessment didn’t fully and accurately capture the scope of China’s efforts to influence the 2020 election.
His own guy. Out loud. On the record. Five and a half years ago.
Ratcliffe did not claim China changed vote totals. He did not claim China touched election infrastructure. He made a narrower argument about analytic emphasis…and he made it in public…and everyone was free to read it.
You cannot conceal a thing your own spy chief announced to the press.
So tonight, when the story is this was buried from me…remember that the man who ran his intelligence community…said the quiet part into a microphone in January 2021, and the sky did not fall…because it wasn’t a bombshell. It was a footnote.
What the Assessment Actually Found
The March 2021 National Intelligence Council assessment…the one this whole performance exists to overwrite…concluded with high confidence…that China did not try to influence the outcome. Beijing’s calculation, per the assessment…was that neither a Biden nor a Trump win was worth the risk of getting caught.
On the machines, it was blunter still:
No indications that any foreign actor attempted to alter any technical part of the process. Not registration. Not casting. Not counting. Not reporting.
And…it explained why that’s hard to fake:
You cannot manipulate American elections…at scale…without tripping over intelligence collection…physical and cyber monitoring…or post-election audits.
There is a minority view in that document, and I’ll hand it to him myself: the National Intelligence Officer for Cyber dissented at moderate confidence…believing China did try to undermine Trump’s reelection through social media and official statements.
Read that dissent closely.
Even the dissenter agreed China did not interfere with election processes.
The strongest version of his own argument…still doesn’t reach a stolen election. It reaches China said mean things on the internet.
Your Watch List for Thursday Night
Four things. Score them yourself.
One…does Venezuela show up?
If it does…you’ve learned everything. The National Intelligence Council reviewed the Venezuelan voting-machine theory during Trump’s own first administration and called it not credible. His people. His term. Not credible.
Two…is there a number?
Watch for what my field guide calls the weave. Big feeling…no figure. If nobody can say how many records..from which states…obtained how…and altered how…there’s nothing there. Vagueness that only shows up when proof is required is the answer.
Three…who’s holding the flashlight?
The declassification push is reportedly being run by Bill Pulte…the acting DNI…and John Solomon…a former reporter…with a long record of amplifying election fraud claims. The spotlight is aimed by somebody. Ask what the somebody gets.
Four…count the days.
There are roughly 110 until the midterms. He has refused to sign a bipartisan housing bill to force a vote on his elections legislation. His own party is begging him to talk about affordability. He’s going to talk about 2020 instead.
That’s not a man with new evidence.
That’s a man…with a calendar.
The Only Thing I’ll Ask of You
Don’t take my word for any of this. Take my prediction.
Write down…tonight…what you expect: a real claim with no number attached…a betrayal story his own DNI already told in public…a public-records list rebranded as a breach…and not one shred of evidence that a single vote in this country was changed.
Then watch.
If he walks out Thursday and produces actual receipts…a state…a count…a method…a changed tally…I will write that column myself…and I’ll put it out to every one of you… free.
He won’t.
And…when he doesn’t…you’ll have learned the thing this newsletter exists to teach: you cannot be quietly steered by something you can see in broad daylight.
He’s telling you what he’s going to do.
Tonight…he’ll do it.
Don’t be surprised. Be ready.

Back soon.

P.S. The reason I could write this ahead of time…is not that I’m clairvoyant. It’s that manipulation is a finite set of plays…run over and over…because they work on wiring that hasn’t changed in ten thousand years.
Tonight is going to be a live demonstration of about four of them. My field guide…Read the Room…names all ten…with the tell and the counter for each.
By the way, it’s my opinion…that the Substack algorithm likes the sources links, like those below. Just a hunch. Whether that’s the case…or not…I certainly hope you like them.

Bless you. I'm going to bed. I paid no attention to it. I heard it was wall to wall lies. I'll check it out in the morning.
The 2020 election was not compromised and the MAGAts went to court and lost over 60 cases because they could not show one bit of evidence of election fraud. Over the last 20 years the 34X felon has more felony convictions than the about 20 cases of election fraud at over 70-80 million votes for president. TWENTY CASES ORANGE IDIOT!!! Tired of the utter bullshit vote all blue and volunteer to help run the election!!!
