To be clear: This is not MY project. I will lend my skillset to assist the person/s who decide to lead this...and make this a reality. (and I so hope someone does.)
Strength is in numbers; the catalyst is organization. Plenty of money exists to defend Americans; right now it’s just scattered across millions of homes. Pool it into a citizen-funded legal fund...and scattered cash becomes real legal power.
Sheer genius, Jack! And we know how much you protect your sleep time. 😂 I actually floated a similar idea months ago, but it was for an insurance fund to afford the lawyers for those targeted. This idea is soo much better, and the need is urgent. I’m ready with my few dollars. I always say even a $1 contribution multiplied by 1000 is $1,000. But zero by a million is still zero. LET’S DO THIS!!
My kid is a 1L law student. Her school actively encourages a lot of the work you describe. There’s a real need for us all to support this work as a lot of state and federal funding has been cut from existing legal defense programs. The Innocence Project and immigration state legal defense have both taken a big hit here in NC.
I will be talking with her over the weekend for sure. Already added to her essential reading by forwarding this article.
This week they had a guest professor from UNC Chapel Hill who lectured on the implications of the Big Bonkers Bill. She said the discussions were lively and focused on what comes next.
I am excited to see this grow into a movement that will help protect our Constitution and Democracy. We seniors may be a little more limited, but we love our Democracy and have voices, email and a list of Congress members that represent millions of contacts if we are willing to pledge to 10-20 contacts a week to be a voice for the group. We need to be the Gray Panther wing of the movement. We need different ages and groups that can support and challenge each other. Can't wait to be a card carrying member of this group! Thank you Jack! We need trainers and teachers for classes. We need to have meetings to work at local levels even if we are working at that moment on something in a different state. Let's be serious in getting this started.

This a great idea. I would gladly become a monthly donor.
Me, too! Me, too!
Great idea! I will be a monthly contributor.

Yep. Someone call Melinda Gates, Abigail Disney and MacKenzie Scott. They could get this rolling with pocket change.
And all the other A-list stars who seem to have gone radio silent since January. (Lookin’ at you, Clooney.)

Keep us posted Jack. I’m in!
Does she know anyone on her faculty, or do they know someone who might get this started? Good for her, in any case.

Thank you Jack and your sleepless night
Absolutely I’m in.
I woke up with the realization that we need a Project 2029! A plan to rebuild the broken system.
Love this idea, happy to support. Is this something that a Marc Cuban, Michael Bloomberg, JB Pritzker or Scott Galloway would give some seed money to?
I am so grateful I follow you Jack Hopkins. This is a brilliant idea that helps people. I am sitting here smiling.
I admire your brain, Jack. And your spirit.
I'm in! I'm 74 and the old body is broken down, but would love to be a donor
Same here, a couple of years younger, but ready to open my checkbook (yes, I still write checks!).
I'm also 74. The body is holding up pretty well, although the right knee would like a word. I'm in as a donor, too!
