To be clear: This is not MY project. I will lend my skillset to assist the person/s who decide to lead this...and make this a reality. (and I so hope someone does.)

Strength is in numbers; the catalyst is organization. Plenty of money exists to defend Americans; right now it’s just scattered across millions of homes. Pool it into a citizen-funded legal fund...and scattered cash becomes real legal power.

Sheer genius, Jack! And we know how much you protect your sleep time. 😂 I actually floated a similar idea months ago, but it was for an insurance fund to afford the lawyers for those targeted. This idea is soo much better, and the need is urgent. I’m ready with my few dollars. I always say even a $1 contribution multiplied by 1000 is $1,000. But zero by a million is still zero. LET’S DO THIS!!

Yep. Someone call Melinda Gates, Abigail Disney and MacKenzie Scott. They could get this rolling with pocket change.

My kid is a 1L law student. Her school actively encourages a lot of the work you describe. There’s a real need for us all to support this work as a lot of state and federal funding has been cut from existing legal defense programs. The Innocence Project and immigration state legal defense have both taken a big hit here in NC.

Keep us posted Jack. I’m in!

Does she know anyone on her faculty, or do they know someone who might get this started? Good for her, in any case.

I will be talking with her over the weekend for sure. Already added to her essential reading by forwarding this article.

This week they had a guest professor from UNC Chapel Hill who lectured on the implications of the Big Bonkers Bill. She said the discussions were lively and focused on what comes next.

Love this idea, happy to support. Is this something that a Marc Cuban, Michael Bloomberg, JB Pritzker or Scott Galloway would give some seed money to?

I don't know anyone with those skills or big pots of money, but I am in as a monthly donor when this kicks off.
