Between this and James Comey’s indictment is no space. Was one supposed to distract from the other? The Comey situation is bad, it’s getting more than the expected attention (except from at least a few experienced prosecutors who seem to think it’s a “vindictive prosecution” slam-dunk), but the military recall is terrifying. Just like they want no one to realize. Or, maybe they do. Seems like it should bring the “refuse illegal orders” concept under the lens of reality. (Real fast, and now, all in one room.)
Exactly, Randy....you’ve hit the playbook. Comey’s indictment is loud...legalistic...and eats oxygen; the Quantico recall is quiet, structural...and far more dangerous if it goes unnoticed. One distracts while the other rearranges the levers of power.
“Refuse unlawful orders” becomes real only if commanders feel they won’t lose everything for saying no...and that depends on JAGs being present...oversight surfacing... and public pressure.
Watch for: JAGs in the room...any tasking memos...sudden reassignments/acting billets... identical one-voice messaging...and whether Congress demands the records. Push your reps. Demand hearings. Make oversight inevitable...that’s the brake we still have.
Your descriptions really spell it out like it is. Thank you, Jack. I’ll be watching and appreciate this “map” as you have explained its pattern. I trust my two sensors
Is there a way we can put the distractions into a capsule and simply concentrate on what must be firmly within our collective awareness and handled as needed?
Jack, my first thought was exactly what you described in your Scenario C. I think that they have enough signatures for the release of the Epstein files. They have one week for the vote on the CR. trump is panicking and needs a distraction... Martial Law. Occupy every major city and every border city.
I hope that the top brass honor their oaths. I really do. I think that shit is about to hit the fan.
You nailed the logic, Libbey. Loud drama distracts while structural moves (Quantico) change the levers of power. The Insurrection Act is the fastest domestic tool...but it’s legally fraught...don’t assume impossibility...assume watchfulness.
Watch these red flags now: were JAGs excluded...are tasking memos or sudden reassignments appearing...is the Guard being federalized...and do Services push identical talking points? Call your reps and demand hearings...force oversight, fast.
Calling my Congress reps tomorrow and every day until we get answers. They need to be all over this.
Refuse fear. Act. Nobody respects Hegseth. He is a greasy former Fox host. Security wise, this is an epically stupid move - leaves vulnerabilities all over the place. It needs to be spun that way- by Congress, the press, social media influencers, etc.
We need to make Hegseth look like the stupid fool he is for doing this.
TV, I like your directions, “Refuse fear. Act.” As in each step we see and have put before us, reactions of shock, surprise, stunned immobility, and following along or complying if not ignoring yet complying seem to be his expectation. None of our Colonists would have taken that, I expect, and neither must we.
Yes...do it! Call every day. Demand hearings...documents...and answers. Frame the story as a security blunder (vulnerability + politicization), not theater. Push JAG exclusion... tasking memos...Guard federalization as the red flags. Tag press...Hill staff...and influencers...make oversight unavoidable. Refuse fear. Act.
Thank you, Jack. I always appreciate your directions and suggestions or methods as well as the explanations you give initially. You help so much in this chaotic situation! What a gift you have and share!
I called my reps yesterday about this - left messages for 2 and actually spoke to a staffer for one who said they had also received other calls on this and that the rep was aware and looking into it.
Keep up the pressure!
It now looks like it might be a “ra-ra” speech- but whatever the hell it is it is stupid and incompetent to bring that many military leaders to one place, announce it, and leave their posts leaderless. It puts the military and our country in danger. This is shameful and incompetent on the part of Signalgate Hegseth. See article below
I’m fantasising here, but with the scenarios you presented wouldn’t it be excellent, if they stood up, en masse, and hogtied kegs breath and courtmartialed him there and then?
Alas, there are probably no Mark Milleys and his ilk there now, to stand up for Americans.
Mo Robinson, yes, standing up en masse is exactly what we need them to do. I hope they have an agenda before walking in, and that they will hold their oath to the Constitution above all.
Thank you, Mo. I prayed a big one for sure, and we need to keep at it. The madness and inhumanity must stop! We need our military to be who and what they are supposed to be as per our Constitution and to be snd remain safe.
Jan, yes, there is so much gloom and doom in this world, and we are bombarded with these horrific changes and concerns in so many ways.
As for praying, it seems to me that if you want, just talk, talk to yourself, or just talk to God, say thank you for something. Say what your fears or worries are, or whatever is in your heart. Ask for help, guidance, strength, calmness, or whatever comes to your mind as your need or your wish for someone. Just thinking out loud and saying what you need or want so much for anyone person or groups, or whatever it is, or just think it, you might feel better. You can say what you love and appreciate. You could just ask for help in finding a way to talk to him, or just ask him to please hear you. He will!
People pray in different ways. I think of prayer sort of as an ongoing conversation with God, and I believe He knows what is in our hearts. Not everybody believes, and not everybody sees it as simply as I do. However you might see it, or might not, maybe you’ll feel able to talk in private, in a quiet place, or to think your feelings. Whatever works for you, I hope you can feel some degree of comfort. I’m praying for you to feel some relief, not that we can give up and feel totally carefree, but I hope it can be easier for you. You do not have to bear burdens totally alone.
I think it helps to count some blessings, too. Sometimes we might have to stretch our thinking to name some good things, but doing that at the end of each dsy and being thankful also helps.
I hope you can take some deep breaths to let out slowly, get a bit of sunshine in the daytime, glance or feel a touch of nature, appreciate the feel of water on your face to destress, or relax in a warm shower. Maybe some of those things will help relieve the gloom and doom, at least briefly or remove your stress for a nice restorative break. Maybe you’ll have time to relax with a cup of tea or even hot water, and if you want to talk/pray, maybe you can just start talking, maybe only a short sentence, or maybe more. If that is what you want, I wish you the best. I wish you the best anyway. We must find a way to laugh or sing, or find some ways to break the stresses of this time. I believe we can. It doesn’t remove the problems, but it helps us, and we must revitalize ourselves, care about ourselves, and it helps us to be stronger in empathizing with other people and in feeling alive. Best wishes to you and to all of us!
Totally get the fantasy, Mo....who wouldn’t want the generals to stand up and stop this in its tracks. The truth, though...and I know you understand, is that we want them to do this in a legal manner, using the levers already in place. The primary reason, I think...other than the fact legal methods...are...legal, is that I believe the legal avenues, properly leveraged, will be enough to make sure the Constitution and the rule of law survive, and Freedom endures.
Jack, thank you so much for this hope and trust in our achieving the survival we need for our Constitution, rule of law,,and freedom. We have often heard the expression, “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.” We are tough in our feelings of hope and our determination, and with your wise guidance, we can be tougher in ways we hope will help make the needed differences.
Thanks Jack, I just wish it was easy to do what’s needed, legally. It just seems these bastards have erased so many legal lines, that there are no lines to cross, now, they’re gone!
Jan Moon, I understand. Although I too am quite moved and extremely concerned, yet not really sure what to say, I tried because I needed to feel the company and to try to help. We are in this together. The fact that you have expressed your thought helps, too. Thank you. Much of it is beyond us, but we do the best we can. I know my senators at least will do the best they can in using their wisdom and dedication.
Bring in the entire upper flag officer corps of the entire US military, in one place, publicly announced. If that’s not a gold-plated invitation to US adversaries, I don’t know what is. Hey, adversaries! Want to completely destabilize the US military? I’d be curious to know what folks’ thoughts are on whether or not any of them might not show up because of the security nightmare this causes. Having not served in the military, I don’t know whether or not this is something that could be considered a refusable order in that light.
Faith, I have been wondering a lot, too. My family members who served in the military are not living now, so I cannot ask them so many things I am wondering.
You’re right, Faith....publicly assembling the entire flag corps is a huge security vulnerability and invites adversary attention. It’s bad judgment even before you get to politics.
Legally...officers can refuse unlawful orders...but an order to attend a meeting is almost certainly lawful; refusing could cost careers.
The real lever is public pressure: treat this as a security failure. Call your reps...demand hearings...push the press to frame it as a vulnerability...and watch for JAG exclusion... tasking memos...sudden reassignments...or Guard federalization. Make oversight unavoidable.
“General quarters, all hands on deck”, I know that statement by heart and it’s ringing in my ears loud and clear, thanks Jack for keeping us alert. I read about this development today and it’s a bad omen. I hate to think it, let alone say it but, anarchy is on the doorstep.
GREAT question, Marsha. Short answer: we don’t know.
I can say this: surveys show roughly 10% of Americans are “Christian nationalism” adherents and another 20% sympathize...PRRI’s recent work is the best baseline.
The military remains majority-Christian (DoD and RAND data put Christians as a large plurality of service members), so if Christian-nationalist views mirror the broader population that could imply some presence...but that’s an aggregate inference...not evidence about specific officers.
I would guess...it would certainly be a non-zero number.
Thank you, Jack for communicating this to us. It's unnerving, but we're staying the course!
By Hegseth pulling this stunt, and leaving things very vulnerable, it proves 2 things: 1) He doesn't give 2 shits about protecting Americans or American interests and, 2) He's completely incompetent to be serving in his current role.
You're welcome. Exactly...nailed it. That stunt reads like contempt for basic security and a résumé that doesn’t belong near the Pentagon.
Do two things now: call your reps and demand hearings...and push the press to frame this as a security failure (JAGs excluded? tasking memos? Guard moves?). Stay loud. Stay focused.
This is terrifying. I knew something ominous was in the offing. Con was doing the look over here (Comey) while actually prepping this. This is why he was so insistent at renaming DOD. He continues to threaten all life that exists within these borders. What I do not, for the life of me understand, is the fact that his chosen do not see what is in front of their very eyes. This is nightmare in the USA.
Jack, thank you. I do not understand Quantico, so I looked it up and learned that is a television program. I do not have television, but I do understand the danger of this situation and the value of your detailed message. Of course, I reposted it. I
I am praying for strength snd honesty for every officer and every enlisted military person to have strength and to stand up for our Constitution above any man, woman, or human in any capacity, with We the People of the United States of America and our Constitution being protected always, while each and all stay safe all the while. We absolutely must come through this time and maintain our freedoms and our democracy within this republic, as well as maintain our integrity and our safety.
Jack, I'm glad you dropped this. I was going to ask you this morning on your thoughts, and it was in my inbox. I heard of this yesterday and my spidey sense went through the roof. I have read that Hegseth called this meeting but is intending to attend via video conference.
A Sec. of Defense that does not have the balls to be in the same room as our Generals and Admirals needs to be hauled into Congress and impeached.
It will eventually come out that the administration is also on the call, possibly in the form of Stephen Miller.
Dire times indeed for our republic. I truly hope everyone gets active and wakes the hell up.
Yes, William...your spidey sense is right. If Hegseth hides in a videoconference while every general shows up in person...that’s cowardice and a political dodge...and it raises the exact accountability questions Congress should be asking right now.
Practical moves: demand the attendee list...insist we know whether JAGs were present... watch for immediate reassignments...and call your reps to demand hearings.
Impeachment is a political remedy if Congress finds dereliction or abuse...make your senators and reps feel the pressure.
Stay loud. Keep asking for facts. That’s how we turn alarm into action.
Amen, Neil! Loud and right. Thanks for saying it. We turn that resolve into pressure: call our reps (demand hearings and the attendee list), share the watchlist (JAGs? memos? Guard moves?), and amplify this to friends...local press...and influencers. Keep the heat on...that’s how we protect the republic.

Thanks for the info, helpful beyond words. No surprise. (Be curious to see what Kirschner’s take on this will be, he was JAG.)

I just did.

You just said a LOT. Understood, Jan. The fact that you're here...reading...says a great deal.
-Jack
I feel exactly the same.
Oh, Jan, I understand completely. I’m not often speechless, but. . .

Exactly, Alissa. Kind of staggering to think about, right?

The DOJ basically collapsed with Comey’s indictment. The DOD collapse is imminent. The alarm sirens of democracy in this country are all flashing red.

Quantico is a place: a Marine Corp base in Virginia.
