My husband and I voted last week and we are continuing to donate as much as we can to the races across the country…I hope and pray that we are able to flip both Houses!

The mask comes off a little more EVERY week...and the people who’ve been watching closely are NOT surprised...just a hell of a LOT more determined.
You nailed it with giving DIRECTLY to candidates. That’s where a dollar does the most WORK right now...especially in the races that will decide the HOUSE and SENATE.
Flipping BOTH chambers is a tall order...without question...BUT it’s sure as hell is NOT a fantasy...and it’s people like YOU and your HUSBAND, Christie...who make it possible.
I never thought retirement would be like this . It has been a letdown to know so many horrid people live in our country that just want to hurt others and take all they can..I believe drumpf unleashed these things in people with his crass and disgusting ways.Those who have been directing him are losing control with his mental decline and they can not prevent him from just blurting out things that are not meant to be said. His anger and attacks on people are getting more frequent. ALL MUST VOTE and vote as early as you can to avoid confrontations.
Nor did any of us expect such revolting developments in retirement or any other time in our country and its government, our homeland. Neither did we ever expect anyone would go along with such developments, and that they would neither think clearly about what they were choosing or allowing nor about all they were taught from grade school onward about history and government paired with awareness and responsibility.
Is it that they are missing key words and cause and effect thinking skills? Is it built in prejudices from lifetimes of programming? Surely not because there are otherwise good people who are smart in some categories and who would not harm anyone. It is a huge mystery to me why some people cannot see that their choices and their overlooking of so much is responsible for ruination of freedoms for themselves and their posterity, as well as attitudes and realities for many people. This is not the way it is supposed to be.
Everyone who has not yet voted must vote asap, preferably with a paper ballot if possible. (I do not know how the tallies are processed, but the ink states where it was placed.). Then we must make the calls and follow the wise steps Jack has kindly given us. I am not sure how to reach a senator or representatives directly though. Someone else answers and takes a message. Other times answering machines are full. Thankfully, I already have two fine senators, and I know how they think.
Cannot lie…. this passage makes me nervous (up until the midterm election then through and up to January when the new Congress is seated). The numbers being tossed about for early voting give me hope. Alberta, CA’s vote to not pursue separation is also pretty exciting….
Early voting starts here on Saturday. Will be going next week. Doing my best to stay grounded, make myself useful until the results are in…. It’s like the last minute jitters before the BIG presentation. Feels like the whole world is cheering us (the US) on. Never did I ever think this is what retirement would be like….!
How is it that a party that professed to have been the hawkish victors of the cold war handed over the reins to a stooge for the loser in that war and are now willing to reverse that win? The armed services in this country are that pliable and accomodating to a traitor?
The midterms are in 14 days, not 14 months. Might want to update that!
And yes, if we don’t vote in a whole lot of candidates who have the spines that the current Republican Congress lacks, our fight against this will be one hell of a lot harder.
