Extremely concerned

Denise Held's avatar

Same here.

PattyG's avatar

Concerned squared

Primarily about nuclear weapons in this Prez’ hands.

Cherae Stone's avatar

Terrifying, that.

Emma's avatar

Worry more about them in israel's hands, though the brits are really pushing some boundaries. Starmer has been disappointment squared. Dude is making sunak look good.

Angry that this is where we are. Angry and so very tired of the manipulation, lies, and bullying. Angry and shocked that so many people and elected Republicans support the abuser-in-chief. Worried about how/where the backlash and retaliation will arrive on US soil, physically and economically.

Emma's avatar

Not just republicans. The NH dem senator had no issues bypassing congress on massive weapons hauls last week.

A more inept group of individuals you could not begin to imagine. Concerned. Disgusted. My AF vet husband who is the most optimistic person on the planet is finally discouraged that the military is just giving in to this without massive resignations/retirements/push-back. This is not just recklessness, it's egotism to the nth degree. It's failure to learn from history or listen to experts. It's hubris. It's stupidity. It's just unbelievable how far this country has fallen in such a short period of time. BUT, #HoldingFast, did I mention I am married to the most optimistic person on the planet?

Sorry, that's not very clinically precise - but it's where we are at.

Diagnoses are irrelevant if there isn't the will, strength and motivation to fight the evil (whether it represents maliciousness, ignorance/stupidity and/or diagnosable psychopathology.

Historically, societies have been through this innumerable times, with horrendous and tragic results when "the worst of the worst" rise to power - they always have the competitive advantage of having no interest or motivation in following any rules.

Older and ancient societies fell to it - they just weren't posting about it on social media.

And they didn't have the technology to take the sadistic destructiveness to the Nth degree in milliseconds.

AND it is not a "linear system" that can be "figured out" or effectively "gamed" with any reliability. Esp with modern communication and technology, it is highly, highly complex - to the point where technically, it can only be "mathematically modeled" by partial differential equations involving inter-dependent variables, that can only be mapped/solved to depict mathematically/statistically-defined but inherently unpredictable stochastic chaos - with uncertain "strange attractors" to which the system is repetitively drawn, for better or worse.

Maybe that should be in DSM-VI:

F.world.up.47 - Stochastically chaotic malevolent, sadistic/masochistic, infantile, untreatable, malignant narcissism.

That's all. Your (not particularly optimistic) shrink-with-an-engineering-background, DMR

Back when I was taking Psychology as an undergraduate, the DSM listed a belief in the Rapture as a mental illness.

Cherae Stone's avatar

HA!

Emma's avatar

Hot 😂. That made my night thanks.

David Black MD's avatar

For decades belief in RaturE was a huge negative on MMPI.

The question disappeard in pat 20 years

Deb's avatar

Holy crap!!! I didn’t know that. Thank you for the enlightenment. I’ve always thought those that believed were off base but did not know about the DSM…. big whoa.

I’ve been concerned since the man was elected (first and second time). Since November of 2024, I have vacillated between wanting to move out of this country and being ready to fight (and yes, die) for it. My main concern is for my daughter, her husband, and my grandson. Me? I’m 72, I’ve had a good life. Wouldn’t mind more of it, but plenty of folks don’t make it this long. My husband is a rock, always good at calming me down when I start to feel overwhelmed, but he’s also good at rationalizing things that I don’t think should necessarily be. Then again, I’m a professional novelist. My imagination can spin off into something horrifying at the drop of a hat. So, I second guess myself a lot. Like, maybe I am making too much of stuff. I contact my Senators, but they’re both Democrats, so they’re already doing what they can. At this point, I’m just wishing that the Republicans in Congress and/or the Cabinet would realize that the US is in danger if Trump remains in power much longer. Even if he were gone now, it will take years for us to recover our standing in the world. I feel sick about it every day, and it is definitely taking a toll on my health. Reading your posts, Jack, is usually the way I gain perspective and confidence in the future. Today, not so much. Not your fault, just the way it is.

Susan, hang in there! 🤗

Its terrifying to see Field Calico Cat and Gintham dog eat each other up.

Im 77. I Llive only for my son, 2 grandchildren

Faith Senie's avatar

Definitely concerned. There’s a madman at the wheel.

Ilene Fischer's avatar

very concerned we have a bona fide madman who has gone to war for. no reason

David Black MD's avatar

Verified madman, Kaiser Wilhelm II created chaos in Europe decades before WWI.

He fqired his Foreign Minister.

Lit the match in Sarajevo INTENTIONALLY.

He encouraged Austria to make specific demands that no sovereign nation could accept.

Guaranteed Austrian German support.

Kaiser sent Kenan to Russia to get Russia out of the war

Ytram's avatar

Concerned, but prepared.

It’s well past impeachment and 25th amendment time.

Seditious conspiracy, insurrection, treason. It’s astonishing.

I am afraid to travel outside of the US. Time to lay in a few more supplies.

Melba Zinke Clark's avatar

Why can’t people look at the BIG PICTURE? With a dangerous twisted psychopathic malignant narcissist in charge (who stole the election, with Elon!) WE MUST get him removed from ANY & ALL POWER!! Trump is living in his own invented reality and will NOT ever face the true reality that we all live- He is NOT ABLE!

David Black MD's avatar

The public has always fallen under the spell of Alpha Males.

Our fellow Primates, as well.

It's biologically determined

Randy S. Eisenberg's avatar

5. All of the above. Plus angry. OK, six.

Terry O’Reilly's avatar

Prepared. For the backlash. If I was Iran, I would hit now and hit hard while I still could. They are getting to a point of nothing more to lose (as a terrorist state with a tortured population). I would go for broke. Torch it all and take it out with me as I go to meet Allah. That’s who Trump is “threatening”

Emma's avatar

Terrorist state with a tortured population?

Barb K's avatar

Very concerned and watching. There are so many chaotic and conflicting actions by the US regime; their lack of control; and the sense that they might prefer to lead the world into a nuclear war than to admit they are WRONG. I am NOT PREPARED for that.

Cherae Stone's avatar

I don’t know that we CAN be.

Shelly Kurtz's avatar

Watching and 95% prepared. Waiting on a couple of projects that Im working for it to be 100% prepared

Diana Abel's avatar

Good for you! 👊
