Susan, I do know...and I’m glad it landed when you needed it. And...you’re right...the world doesn’t need more people trying to be me.
It needs people willing to stay themselves...stay present...and stay engaged. That’s MORE than enough. Get some rest. You’re carrying this moment better than you think!
Wow, thank you thank you thank you! I really needed this. I am so spent, ready to cry on a dime. I feel like everyone is just ignoring this, I don’t understand why we’re not in the streets. You gave me some hope that I can get up tomorrow and do it again. I live in a very red state, but still I will be writing emails to our senators and congessmen, even though I didn’t vote for them. Thank you for one more day of keeping it together! #holdfast
Patricia, I hear how tired you are...and that tiredness makes sense. This is heavy...and pretending otherwise doesn’t help anyone.
Living in a red state can make it feel even lonelier (I know first hand) but what you’re doing STILL matters.
Writing...calling...staying visible even when it feels thankless...that’s how pressure stays alive. You don’t have to carry everything at once. Just getting up...and doing what you can again...is ENOUGH for today. #HoldFast
Don’t forget every little thing we do counts! Maybe you can find a group of like-minded people to hit the streets with on Jan. 20. I find that getting out there with other people and all our signs gives me renewed energy to keep going.
When I was in High School, more years ago than I care to recall, I listened to one of the seniors in my class give an original oration in my speech and debate class. What stuck with me was his theme. Success is determined by two things, persistence and determination. That has served me well for almost 60 years.
The power of the right words...delivered with clarity...around a relevant idea. BOOM. I'm sure it HAS served you well for almost 60 years. Thank you for sharing that, Steven. I know I benefitted from reading your words, and I'm sure others did/will as well!
You provide the seeds and the rest of us need to water the plants until they flower. The good news is that everyone that participates has, by definition, a green thumb. Keep fighting the good fight!
I sure needed to hear this right now Jack. It’s real easy to let doubt or comparison creep in and cause collapse. I tell myself to stay steady, and stay the course.
Jack, your information is so needed and very much appreciated. Definitely, we do come as we are, and I can definitely identify with being behind. You really described so much, and I am grateful to know I can just come and be grateful for everyone who does. Of course, I try to pay attention as much as possible in the meantime. Thank you!
Sometimes I swear you know me better than I know myself. There's little support to stop feeling doubtful, exhausted, and impotent by the end of the day. At the same time, I've been amassing a mailing list of every federal, state, county, and city official to blast letters, emails, phone calls, telling anyone in a position to stop this shit to stop this shit. Since I don't have the money, I want to post it for anyone to join in. If I can't march, at least I can do that.
Thank you. We all need support and encouragement at times, and though the state of each of us, the union, and the world was your primary focus, you helped me go from a crappy mobility day (with repeated assistance and little self-confidence) yesterday to a crappy mobility day entirely on my own so far. A small victory that I would trade in a minute for a successful turnaround in this country, but a victory nonetheless!
Great pep talk coach. It is seriously overwhelming trying to keep up with the endless deluge of depressing news. That is intentional. As Bannon said, "flood the zone."
Take a break.. Catch your breath. Dive back into the cesspool. 2026 promises to be even more disturbing and destructive than 2025. But surrender is not an option. We only stand a chance of victory if we keep fighting, in whatever capacity we are capable of. We are the majority. Our children and grandchildren are relying on us to preserve democracy, just as we relied on our brave ancestors.
I didn't read this last night, Jack, but I felt it. Being at the end of a rope doesn't necessarily mean you are going to fall. It can mean you have reached stable ground. Reading it now underscored what I was already glimpsing. Today, I will start doing one of the things I do best, being an irritant to the fools who "represent" me. Thank you for bringing clarity to a fuzzy world.
That was more than worth a 1:30 am read… thank you Jack. I know others have said it before me but I REALLY needed this. I think you know that.
I am so relieved that I don’t have to be well… YOU! lol
Appreciate the late night pep talk.

Am I really? I’m not so sure.
Thanks Jack!

See? You’re not so sure, but you’re still here. 😉
Oh definitely!

Lynn...hat’s exactly right; small actions compound when people don’t quit.
And...doing this alongside others matters more than most people realize. Shared presence restores energy in a way...nothing online ever can.
EVEN when results aren’t immediate...connection keeps people in the game. That’s how this lasts. #HoldFast.

It’s important to pace yourself 🤣When I look back on all we have been through since 1-6-21, I would never have imagined how resilient we have become.
What a powerful truth, Jacqueline. Thank you.
-Jack
Thanks Jack, that was very helpful for me 🙏 as I’m sure I’m not alone!
You're welcome, Kelly. I'm glad it landed with you.:)

Beautifully accurate. 👍
Thank you, Joe.

Thank you for sharing your gifts. Especially now when we need it. You are appreciated.
Neil...you're welcome. Thank YOU.

This was such a reaffirming morale boost - a reminder not to give in to exhaustion and apathy❣️And sites like this remind us that we’re not alone!
Glad to know, Lynn. You are absolutely NOT alone.

Very easy, John. I'm glad you found this article helpful. You just keep telling yourself, "Stay steady, and stay the course."!

I look at ‘now’ as: good vs evil. I’ve never seen the expression be: ‘perfect’ vs evil.
Good (and well-timed) post, Jack.
