I read Cory Booker's interview with Marc Elias. He, I am afraid, is part of a very small group of reps and senators working for We The People and not the What's In It For Me crowd. I assumed for quite some time that the Democrats would rally, but I doubt it. Will there be an opposition party that can rise from their ashes? Can we circumvent trump and DeJoy's plans to subvert the election? Are there any decent Republicans still in existence?

That’s why decentralization...matters SO much right now: many voices...many platforms... many backups.
Silencing everything is far harder than silencing one outlet.
On Democrats: you’re also right that the truly principled fighters are a minority. That’s not new, unfortunately. Parties don’t save democracies...people do...often working inside... around...and...sometimes in SPITE OF parties.
Movements tend to form before institutions catch up...not the other way around. This is key.
As for elections...subversion plans only work IF they’re quiet and uncontested. The single biggest counterweight is visibility + early resistance... courts engaged BEFORE the fact... states asserting authority...citizens paying attention now...not after November.
That fight is already underway...even if it doesn’t look dramatic yet.
Are there decent Republicans? Yes...but many are quiet...local...or no longer welcome in today’s GOP.
Some will surface when the cost of silence....finally exceeds the COST of speaking. That tipping point usually arrives SUDDENLY...not gradually.
Holding fast doesn’t mean pretending this is easy or guaranteed.
It means staying clear-eyed...connected...and active even when outcomes are uncertain.

I believe that this will come down to true patriots in the military (in high command) standing up to their oath to the Constitution and refusing to carry out illegal orders, perhaps against Greenland or such. If not then, it will be when they're ordered against the American People. I'd like to know what Jack thinks about that.

Short answer: it would help...BUT...it wouldn’t be a force field.
Joining the ICC wouldn’t magically prevent the next wannabe dictator. What it WOULD do is raise the personal cost of future power grabs...by removing one of the biggest protections authoritarians rely on: impunity AFTER the fact.
Right now...U.S. leaders operate with a built-in assumption:
“No international court can touch me.”
ICC membership changes that calculus. It creates:
*A permanent external legal record
*The possibility of post-office prosecution
*Fewer safe exits and foreign havens
*Less ability to rewrite history later
That matters...ESPECIALLY for second-tier actors...enablers...and loyalists...who aren’t willing to go down with the ship.
But here’s the part people miss: the ICC ONLY deters if domestic guardrails exist.
No international court can stop a dictator who controls courts...security forces...and elections in real time.
So...yes...joining the ICC would be a smart layer of defense.
BUT... the REAL prevention...still lives here: laws...norms...enforcement...and consequences before things spiral.
Think of the ICC as a seatbelt...not an airbag.
It doesn’t STOP the crash...but....it can limit the DAMAGE and make reckless behavior harder to survive.
And that...alone...would be a meaningful step forward.

Once you accept that no one is coming to save us...something clarifying happens:
Responsibility snaps back where it belongs.
Wishful thinking isn’t just useless...it’s dangerous. It delays ACTION...normalizes drift...and hands authoritarians their favorite weapon: time.
The resources exist for one reason only: to help people let go of the fantasy and step into agency.
That’s how democracies survive.
Not by rescue. By RESOLVE.
