Anger is the appropriate emotion. And...an emotion...we should channel into a FIERCE letter/email/phone call campaign to express our anger...disgust...and demand from our lawmakers...that they fight this...tooth and nail!
Sent my 3 letters to Congressional rep and senators. Once I can do it without using expletives, will send the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs and the Oval office inhabitant same message.

Putting the name of a felon on any ship is a desecration of everything that is sacred in the military. That soldier could have ducked, run, fainted. He didn’t. He stood up to the assault. Trump is only famous for his ability to fire people. Oh and some other stuff that I’m thinking and won’t ruin my day with, like the Epstein files that spell out everything he was other than a hero. Leave the ship alone.
Another tactic for political disaster for Trump and anyone who supports this renaming. Davis should get the Medal of Honor anyway. He deserves it. It's a shame that only about 20% of the minority voters will even hear this story.
I knew it would be measured, concise...and crystal clear. I agree; he DOES deserve it. And...your last sentence is my biggest concern...and...why I'm hoping...we can BLAST this story around to at least a few people...who wouldn't have seen it...otherwise.

Through the history of the United States military black men and women who were good, smart, decent, hard workers, served our nation honorably hoping, hoping they will finally be recognized for who they are when they return home. Worthy. We close our eyes, ears, heart and turn away. On top of the racism spewed by this administration each day, there is a mission to erase all the goodness you have contributed, every honor you have earned, every important thing you have created in every walk of life, as if it is their right to say you deserve nothing. This is the thing, the President and his administration can only behave as they do as long as we go along. Soon we will have an opportunity to say we want to be a part of our brothers and sisters. We want community. The way we can move in the only correct direction is to VOTE! Let there be no question when the voting is done as to what The People want.

I’ve been outraged ever since I first read this. I’ve already emailed my elected officials… Thom Tillis.. lost all faith in him… Ted Budd who couldn’t lean any further right without falling over… and the disgraced Chuck Edwards who never cared and cares even less now.
I think I’ll call Tiflis’s office anyway and see if he disappoints me once again. I won’t expect anything different but he’ll get my view on the matter anyway.. or at least his office will.
I guess we have bigger problems but somehow this is the kind of thing that keeps me up nights. That and kids in concentration camps.. Alex Pretti.. Renee Good.. and more.. the nameless, faceless fishermen.. most likely.. being blown up in the Caribbean. Maybe it’s because these are the things that get less attention but no.. that’s not it. They just hit somewhere deep inside me and make a home there.
