Jack, thank you for sharing the photograph in honor of your mother. The sentiment and lasting love we feel for our families lives forever, and we are so fortunate to have the soul deep bonds.
Also, Jack, in addition to the comfort of honoring your mother, I wish you ongoing comfort, because I know that we never stop missing our parents, and we can be surprised at any time, any number of years later, of the loss feeling so fresh. I am glad you had a wonderful mother. So many of us are exceptionally fortunate to have had the parents, family, and friends in our lives, and it is such a gift that we continue to learn from recalling their words, feelings, and actions.
Dad joined USN at 17 y/o in '42.. Mom was a Cadet Nurse! Me, I was the youngest of their six and reaped the benefits of their hard work, and now it's time to step up like they did and do what I can. I have lived free for 60 years now. Repaying the debt as well as I can.
Jack, in my early years as a Navy Nurse I took care of Mrs. Nimitz at NH Oakland. A nicer, classier lady you could never meet. She loved our corpsmen. On the night of the baseball All-Star game she had her family bring hot dogs, soda and chips for the crew. When I think of her I think of the pride we all had in our service.
Now to the hard part. I am hoping the protests this weekend are huge. Also, hope they are the reason the R's step back because we are challenging them and not the reason Trump uses to invoke the insurrection act.
I have volunteered as a poll monitor in Nevada since 2008. Was hoping to retire from doing so but now I don't feel like I can walk away. There is too much at stake and the shenanigans we saw last November will be child's play for what is coming next year.
I agree that we have to bad together to stop this disaster.
What a special tribute to your mother! She certainly raised you right. Your honesty and integrity are exuded in every word. Her truth l8ves on in you. Thank you, Jack, for providing insight into our direction as a democratic constitutional republic. We are in for a rough ride, but elbows and constitution is up, we're ready!

JP4M, this is so true. The feeling of loss can surprise you. We must continue to focus on the lessons they shared with us.
